The Art of Sinning was my first Sabrina Jeffries book, and it won’t be my last!
I really enjoyed both Yvette and Jeremy, and the somewhat complex relationship between them. Yvette’s propensity for collecting and using street cant, along with her independence and feistiness, endeared her to me. I sometimes get frustrated with the whole emotionally-wounded-hero trope, but Jeffries pulled it off well in Jeremy. I’m also intrigued by Yvette’s brother Edwin, who’s not nearly the stuffed shirt he thinks he is.
I also appreciated the humor of the banter, particularly between Yvette and Jeremy, as well as the depth of the hero and heroine’s emotions. There were moments when I could feel myself tensing in sympathy with their pain, or laughing along with them. I was less happy with some of the language in the steamy scenes (personally, I tend to prefer euphemisms over blunt Anglo-Saxon terms, as long as they’re well-chosen.) But that’s a minor complaint in light of the overall strength of the story.
The Art of Sinning is the first in the Sinful Suitors series. Edwin gets his own book next (yay!). The Study of Seduction comes out next March.

Oh my gosh. Your first Jeffries?!! She’s one of my favorites (and a local author). So glad you enjoyed your first. My favorites are her Hellions of Halstead Hall which are just so fun and kind of very lightly tied to this series. I hope you love your next from her 😀 She definitely gives good banter 😀

I’m so glad you enjoyed this one! This one wasn’t my favorite but it was mostly just because I didn’t really connect with Yvette for whatever reason instead of any flaws. I’m definitely looking forward to Edwin’s book. Read The Duke’s Men series. I loved the 2nd one – When the Rogue Returns – especially. We actually meet Jeremy in the 3rd book and I really liked him there. I was excited when he got his own book.
