Fairytale Reading Challenge 2015 – Goals

Fairytale Challenge 2015

I’m signing up for another challenge for 2015: The Fairytale Challenge, hosted by The Daily Prophecy.  The challenge is to read fairytale retellings, and the reader chooses what counts as a fairytale. Since I love a good fairytale retelling, this challenge is right up my alley. However, given that I’m also participating in several other challenges, I’m setting a relatively low goal, which I can always revise upward: Magic Mirror, 5-9 books.

I already know a few books I’ll be reading for this challenge: Dearest (Alethea Kontis), Fairest (Marissa Meyer), From a High Tower (Mercedes Lackey), and Winter (Marissa Meyer). Beyond that, we’ll have to see!

Thanks, Mel! You too! BTW, From a High Tower is the latest in Mercedes Lackey’s Elemental Magic series, and they’re all fairy tale retellings. If you haven’t read them, you should check them out! (The earlier ones are better than some of the recent ones, so I do recommend starting at the beginning with The Serpent’s Shadow.)

This is interesting. I’m going to have a deeper look into this. I’m a slow reader so I’d probably set a low goal too. I actually have a few books on my “to read list” that would qualify. A.G. Howard has a series that is a modern retelling of Alice in Wonderland & Gregory Maguire has tons of books that do this. I’m getting more & more excite as I type…I wonder if I can get any of my podcast mates to join me?
