Easter Sunday – 4/16/2017

April 16, 2017 Sunday Post 26

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures — I mean books!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to those who are celebrating it, and to those who celebrated Passover, Pesach sameach!

I am exhausted from all the singing this week: a long rehearsal Wednesday night, services on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, and the two-and-a-half-hour-long Easter Vigil on Saturday. (Actually, I’m exhausted anyway, as you’ll see from the third paragraph.) I ended up skipping this morning’s Easter service; I was just too wiped out.

This afternoon, assuming I’m up for it, we are going out for Easter dinner with two other couples from church and a few of their teen and young adult children. I’m looking forward to a nice afternoon. And it’s just as well that I didn’t have to cook and clean this week, as I’m still behind on indexing due to. . .

You may remember that I had something like the flu a couple of weeks ago? Well, my energy hasn’t bounced back. Turns out I have [drum roll, please] mono. Yes, really. At my age. It would almost be funny, if I weren’t so tired most of the time. I’m told it may take up to a couple of months to get back to normal energy levels. So if I’m not around quite as much as usual, that’s why. I’m probably off taking a nap.

Last Week on the Blog – National Library Week

Upcoming on the Blog

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I’m still working on The Lost Kingdom of Bamarre (Gail Carson Levine; ARC), and I finished reading Serenity Harbor (RaeAnne Thayne; ARC.) I also reread Driving Force,  The Danger,  and Dead Heat by Dick Francis (Kindle; all three purchased recently.)

Listening to: Hidden Figuresby Margo Lee Shetterly.

Watching: We watched Interstellar, which I had not seen before but Mr. Bookwyrm had, and followed it the next night with a rewatch of Apollo 13. After that, we rewatched The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe and started Prince Caspian (which we’ll probably finish tonight.)

For Review or Review Consideration

Many thanks to St. Martin’s Press/Minotaur Books and Avon!

Purchased for Kindle

Dick Francis books rarely go on sale, and when they do, it’s not by much… but I’ll grab them anyway.

Have a wonderful week, and happy reading!

Thank you, Laura. I can get out and about for short periods, but I tire out very quickly. And my mental focus is shot, which is really frustrating.

Thanks, Lexxie! I hope I can kick it soon, too. I’ve got my daughter’s graduation coming up, after all!

Avon is pretty good about pre-approving Avon Addicts from previous groups for some of their digital arcs, even after our official group is over. I really appreciate it, because they have some of the romance authors I love, like Julia Quinn, Sarah MacLean, Julie Anne Long, and Jill Shalvis.

Wow you were busy. That stinks about having mono, hope your energy gets back up soon. Enjoy your books & Happy Easter!

  2. Greg

Happy Easter! Love your Easter dragon. 🙂

Sorry to hear about the mono! You should be proud of yourself for getting through Holy Week with that! Hope you feel better soon. The Narnia movies are kinda fun- hope you enjoy Caspian.

The Daughter of sherlock Holmes- love that cover!

The Narnia movies are repeats for us—the movie equivalent of comfort food, I guess! And yeah; I couldn’t resist the cover or description of The Daughter of Sherlock Holmes.

Thank you, Samantha! The frustrating thing is trying not to feel guilty or lazy for needing to rest and getting so little done. Reading, though—I’m getting plenty of that done! But not much review-writing, darn it.

Nice book list. I always enjoy RaeAnne Thayne and Jill Shalvis’ books. Feel better and have a great week!

Happy Easter!! Oh same here… I’m also exhausted with all the singing. I’ve been singing since Friday. Three days in a row. But I’ve been super excited. Easter is the happiest moment in my life.
I hope you’re having a wonderful time celebrating and enjoying the break. ?
    Happy reading. Enjoy your books.

What a busy week and weekend! I hope you are being treated for the mono – it can be horrible as an adult, I’ve heard. I hope you start feeling better!

My goodness, you got a lot done despite being sick, and hope you can rest in bed some this week. Yay to Jill Shalvis releasing a new book. Really love her writing. Feel better soon! Hugs…

That Easter dragon picture looks great! Sounds like you had a busy week. I hope you had a nice dinner out. Sorry to hear you have mono and your energy has been down due to that. I hope you recover soon. I also got Chasing Christmas Eve for review! I enjoyed that series so far, so I am looking forward to that one. I hope this week was a good one!
