Happy Father’s Day! (Sunday Post – 6/17/2018)

June 17, 2018 Sunday Post 13

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

 My Week

The ants appear to be deterred from entering the inside of the house, though not necessarily the outer walls.  I’m still working frantically to finish an index before we go on vacation. And Robin arrived very early this morning (yay!), after a much-delayed flight that got them home at around 4:30 or 5:00 this morning.

I’m going to take couple of week off from the blog. Between my shoulder (which still hurts), finishing this index, preparing for a vacation, and then spending some time in a place with no internet, I think it’s probably best if I just unplug for a little bit. I should be back to blogging around the beginning of July. I hope you all have a great couple of weeks!

Last Week on the Blog

Upcoming in July

(No dates as yet, but these should be coming in July)

  • Treasures From the Hoard: The Wounded Sky (Diane Duane) – review
  • Dragon Books Masterlist
  • Island of the Mad (Laurie R. King) – review
  • The Winter Sea (Susanna Kearsley) – audio review
  • Fade to Black (Heather Graham) – review
  • Herons Landing (JoAnn Ross) – review

What I’m Reading/Watching

What I’m Reading: I finished reading Island of the Mad (Laurie R. King; ARC) and The Cottages on Silver Beach (RaeAnne Thayne; ARC) (review), and started Herons Landing (JoAnn Ross; ARC.)  And I’m making my way slowly through  Year of Wonder: Classical Music for Every Day (ARC.) I still need to get back to Someone to Care by Mary Balogh (ARC) and The Underwater Ballroom (anthology ARC). Maybe once I finish this index!

Listening to: The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley — and loving it!  I’ve also been listening on Spotify to the Year of Wonder playlists that go with Year of Wonder: Classical Music for Every Day (due out in the US next November; it came out in the UK last October.)

Watching: I think I managed to squeeze in one Father Brown episode last weekend.

Enjoy your vacation, it will get more relaxing and less stressful once your there. It’s funny how planning a holiday can cause anxiety.

Take as much time as you need when it comes to blogging. It’s ok for life to happen leaving less time to read and blog, but I for one can understand the need of taking a break as life gets in the way of reading and bowling.

Hope your shoulder gets better soon.

  2. Rita @ View From the Books

Have a great vacation, Lark! Try to unplug your mind also from troubling thoughts, not just unplugging the social media. Sounds like fun ahead for you after you deal with your work and packing up.

I read and enjoyed very much The Winter Sea by Kearsley. I have another couple of her books on my kindle from awhile ago– maybe I need to escape by reading one of those. Also want to read an Alyssa Cole; I heard they were well-written.

    Chat with you soon!

Go ahead and enjoy! Blogging can be fun, but you’ll be surprised how relaxed you are if you took a break from it for a while. Have a great week and DEFINITELY go ahead and enjoy your break for me!

  4. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

Unplugging sounds like a good idea. It seems like you’ve been crazy busy for months and the shoulder issue is not helping I’m sure. I read Heron’s Landing and liked it. It wasn’t a wow book but it was really enjoyable It was my first JoAnn Ross but it won’t be my last. Enjoy your visit with Robin and your new books! Have a great week!
