I split my week between working on the blog, prepping for my choruses, and the house. I can’t say I’m where I’d like to be on any of them, but I made at least a little progress on all three fronts. I’m also trying to get back to walking, and made it out for two walks this week. Three, if you count all the walking I did yesterday…
Yesterday we drove two and a half hours to Staunton, Virginia, to attend a Harry Potter festival. It was so much fun—crowded, but fun! I enjoyed seeing all the people in costume or simply sporting Harry Potter or Hogwarts t-shirts, ties, or socks. I’m planning a whole post about it, but here’s a little taste:

My thoughts and prayers are still with those affected by the hurricanes, the earthquake in Mexico, and the fires out West. So much devastation, and there’s so little I can do to help from here, except donate what I can.
ETA: I almost forgot! Star Trek: Discovery debuts tonight. We’ve signed up for CBS All Access so we can watch it. Star Trek: Next Generation was an important part of our courtship and first years of marriage. Our first plunge into long-term commitment was buying a VCR together so we wouldn’t miss an episode. (We were both working retail at the time, so there was never a guarantee that we would both be off work on the nights it aired.) Here it is, more than 25 years later, and we still share that love of Star Trek. I hope the new series lives up to the legacy!
ETA: It’s Banned Books Week. I’m celebrating by listening to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone—again!

Challenge Update
The Tackle Your TBR Readathon ends today. Over the two weeks of the readathon, I’ve finished 6 books and written reviews for 3, with notes on two of the others. And I’m 32 books ahead of schedule on my Goodreads goal.
What I’m Reading/Watching
Reading: I read Sugar Pine Trail (RaeAnne Thayne; ARC; review), Second Chance Girl (Susan Mallery; ARC), and Chasing Christmas Eve (Jill Shalvis; ARC.) I finished rereading Face the Fire (Nora Roberts), so hopefully I can get that trilogy reviewed this week, now that it’s fresher in my mind. I’m still reading Murder, Magic, and What We Wore and The Waking Land. Or, to be more precise, hoping to get back to them. I seem to have the attention span of a gnat these days. Whatever happened to sitting down and reading a book for four hours straight? About the only time I do that anymore is when I can’t sleep. Too much social media, not enough reading.
Listening to: The Imaginary Worlds podcast, film scores, and the pieces my choruses will be singing. I don’t currently have an audiobook going.
Watching: We are rewatching Sherlock seasons 1–3 so we can remind ourselves of all the clues before we watch Season 4; this week we made it through Season 3, Episode 1 (“The Empty Hearse.”) And we’ve also seen one or two episodes of Father Brown.

The HP festival sounds like it was a fun thing. I need to rewatch Sherlock as well so I can get to the 4 season it’s been so long I feel I have forgotten things. 🙂

What a cool pic! Looks like fun. And yay for Discovery- I hope it’s an awesome show. I’ve always liked Star Trek but fallen away in recent years- I am curious about it though.

Imaginary Worlds is worth making time for, but I know the feeling. I’m overwhelmed by how much there is that I want to read/watch/listen to.

We really enjoyed it! As for STNG, Mr. Bookwyrm watched them when they first aired (or as many as we could either see or videotape to watch later.) Then when they came out on DVD, we bought the set and watched them again. I don’t think I saw every episode every time, but I’ve seen all of them at least once and most twice. And a few I’ve seen more times than that! Enjoy your week!

The festival was a lot of fun!
The reasons I’m so far ahead on my Goodreads challenge are a) I had mono last spring, and spent a lot of time reading while I was sick and recovering, and b) I reread a lot of books while I was sick/recovering. Rereads tend to go faster, especially if I’m not taking notes for a review. I’m not counting on reading as many books next year as I probably will this year… at least, I kind of hope I don’t, since I don’t need a repeat of being exhausted for months on end.

That’s good you made progress on all three fronts this week. That Harry Potter festival you attended sounds great! And what a great picture.
I had heard a few things about Star Trek Discovery, but didn’t realized it would start airing now already. will have to look into it a bit more. We watched some of the star trek series, but not all of them yet.
