The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

 My Week

I had a quiet and fairly restful week, which I have sorely needed. I’ve been knitting and/or spinning every day, and the creativity feels good. I’ve also done a little (a very little) writing, and a lot of minor organizational stuff. Oddly, I haven’t done as much reading as I thought I would; I think I’m in a bit of a slump.

On Wednesday, Mr. Bookwyrm, a young friend of mine and I all went up to Arlington for a book tour and signing with Naomi Novik. It was really great! I’m planning a post about it this week, but I’ll tantalize you with one photo from the evening.

This week, I will start PT for my shoulder. Beyond that, I hope to get caught up on laundry and do some significant decluttering as well as focus more on blogging.

What I’m Reading/Watching

What I’m Reading: I finished reading Shelved Under Murder (Victoria Gilbert; ARC; review coming this week.) And I finished rereading The Romulan Way (Diane Duane.) I’m currently rereading the Three Sisters trilogy by Nora Roberts, and I’m still slowly working my way  through Year of Wonder: Classical Music for Every Day (ARC.)

Listening to: The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley, which I’m still savoring, reluctant to finish it because I’m enjoying it so much! I’ve been listening on Spotify to the Year of Wonder playlists that go with Year of Wonder: Classical Music for Every Day  

Watching: We watched Ken Burns’ The National Parks documentary series. The cinematography is breathtaking, and the series has rekindled our desire to visit most of the National Parks and National Monuments. We also watched The Post, a Spielberg film starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks, which tells the story of the Washington Post and its decision to stand up for freedom of the press and publish the Pentagon Papers.  But at heart, it’s really about Post owner Katherine Graham finding her voice. It’s an excellent film, and more gripping than the description makes it sound.

Omigosh, thank you so much to Bloomsbury, who sent me a physical ARC of The Girl with the Dragon Heart! I loved the first book in this series, and can’t wait to dive into this one. Many thanks also to Berkley for The Hollow of Fear.

I bought Spinning Silver at Naomi Novik’s book tour appearance this week, and she signed it (along with my copy of Uprooted.) SQUEEE! And The Great Corgieville Kidnapping is by Tasha Tudor, one of my favorite illustrators; I got a used copy through a college friend who runs Dark Star Books and Comics in Yellow Springs, OH. (I didn’t get to visit her store, though I would love to; I bought it online.) It joins my collection of illustrated children’s books.

    Naomi Novik!!!!! I love her books. I have listened to them all on audio. I won Uprooted in a contest. I bought Spinning Silver. I’ve listened to almost all the Temeraire series from the library. Anne – Books of My Heart

      I’ve listened to most of the Temeraire novels — I’m saving a few for later because I didn’t really want the series to end, I enjoyed it so much. Uprooted is amazing; I read it in book form and loved it. I’m very much looking forward to reading Spinning Silver!

      I hadn’t even noticed the cover art matched up! Too bad the third and fourth books don’t match; they changed the style entirely.

      Thanks, Aj! I’ve met with the physical therapist, and I’m encouraged; I should be able to get most of the flexibility back.

    Also, I’m so glad you got some Robin Hobb books! I just got into her last year and she’s an incredible author.
