Sunday Post – 11/23/14

November 23, 2014 Sunday Post 26

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures – I mean books!

My Week

Our concert is tonight! Yesterday’s rehearsals went well, so I’m really psyched for tonight’s performance. But I can’t believe it’s already here – and that Thanksgiving is this week! Where on earth did the fall go? I’m no where near ready for Christmas yet – I’ve got shopping to do and a bunch of presents still to make. Still, I love this time of year, from now through New Year’s, because we so often spend a lot of it with family. (And, I confess, because I love Christmas carols, Christmas movies, and all the traditions and decorations!)

I wish all of you in the U.S. a very happy Thanksgiving. May you have family around you, a lovely Thanksgiving feast, and plenty of time to read!

Good luck with your performance! I’m having a hard time believing that it’s time to do any Christmas shopping. I’m not reading! Mulled Murder looks fun and I got the Twisted Threads too! It didn’t make this week’s post but it will be there next week. I’m hoping it’s as good as it looks like it’s going to be!

Thanks, Michelle! I’m looking forward to COYER. And I will enjoy the holiday season; I’m just bewildered by how fast October and November disappeared.

  3. Sandy @ Somewhere Only We Know

I’m a huge fan of this whole time of year too! I love everything about it. The family time, the parties, the decorations, the food, the Christmas songs, how it’s not really taboo to talk about Jesus during this time of year, the Christmas movies, all of it! Thankgiving. New Years. New starts. New goals. Reflecting on our blessings and on the things we’ve experienced and accomplished over the last year. Okay…I’ve rambled enough. Your books look really good this week! Hope you enjoy them all! Good luck tonight and Happy Thanksgiving!

What’s that song – “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”? I do love the holiday season – and I love how so many cultures have some sort of celebration of light around December: Hanukkah, Solstice, Diwali, Kwaanza as well as Christmas.

Good luck and have fun with your concert, Lark. Must be a fun time of year for you as a music director and singer. I love to hear Christmas songs, holiday carols and church hymns alike. Some of your fantasy looks good, Dearest and Beauty. Might check them out. If I don’t chat with you this week, have a wonderful Thanksgiving day.

It’s a great time for singers and directors – but can also be very busy, with all the rehearsals and special music and extra services!

      Have a lovely Thanksgiving, Rita!

Or else I need a time-turner to fit in everything I need to do! I didn’t get any photos – too busy directing! But if anyone else posts any, I’ll grab them.

  5. Tressa @ Wishful Endings

You grabbed some awesome books this week! I’m so excited to read Dearest. We’re organizing a tour for her in February and it’s going to be so much fun!! I’m going to go check out your news & notes post and the e-reader challenge. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I have Nice Dragons Finish Last as well – I bought it right when it came out but then I realized I had a crap ton of audible credits and one about to expire so I burned one on the audio version and low and behold where as I didn’t seem to make time to read it I’m listening to it rightnow and 15% in! I hope you enjoy I really love this author so far (I adored her Rachel Back – Paradox trilogy)

I was up in the air, but the reviews on Amazon were really good, so I decided to try it. I’ve got so much stuff to read, though, it may be a long time before I get around to it.
