March 19, 2017 Sunday Post 10

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures — I mean books!

My Week

Well, winter decided to pay a return visit. It’s been cold here all week, though it warmed up a little on Friday and Saturday. Not that I got outside either of those days; I’ve been working and blogging and hardly come up for air. The forecast for the coming week is crazy: 63° Tuesday, 46° Thursday, 72° Saturday, and snow the following Monday. Even for Virginia, that’s a bit erratic.

A quick challenge update: I managed to get 11 posts, 3 drafts, and 1 review set-up done for for Blog Ahead. Yay! I’ll probably use them up over the next several weeks, given my indexing schedule, but at least they’re there to use! I’m at 12 books read so far for The Backlist Reader Challenge (halfway there!), but I’ve only posted 2 reviews so far. [hangs head] And I’m only at 2 books read for the March Take Control of Your TBR 2017 Challenge. That’s not good, since my goal is 10 and there are only 13 days left. I don’t think I’m going to make that one. [shakes head] Too many ARCs this month.

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished Jewels of the SunTears of the Moonand Heart of the Sea (Nora Roberts) all of which count for The Backlist Reader Challenge and Take Control of Your TBR.  I also read Single Malt Murder (Melinda Mullet; ARC) and A Perfect Obsession (Heather Graham; ARC.) I reread Irresistible (Mary Balogh; purchased), and started Map of the Heart (Susan Wiggs, ARC.)  Ghost Talkers (Mary Robinette Kowal) and The Crooked Sixpence (Jennifer Bell, ARC) are still waiting for me to get back to them. Oh, I’m fickle!

Listening to: I didn’t make much headway with my podcasts, though I’m still trying to get caught up on 99% Invisible, The Allusionist, Writing Excusesand Imaginary Worlds. But I got through several more chapters of Bill Bryson’s Made in America.

Watching: We’ve been watching the John Adams miniseries from HBO. My parents gave my husband the DVDs for his birthday or Christmas a year or so ago, but we hadn’t gotten to them until now. It’s an excellent series in every respect.

Congrats on the challanges. It’s Awesome for me. I want to do a blog ahead challenge next month. Let’s see if I can do it. I’m a slow reader. 🙁
Montana Heat series, Perfect For You, and The Four Loves sound great. I cant wait to read what you think about them. 😀
I hope you have a great week filled with awesome reads this week. Happy reading. 😀

It doesn’t have to be reviews; you can also write and schedule posts for memes you participate in, or discussion posts, or whatever. And it’s also OK to review books you read before you started blogging… Good luck, and happy reading and blogging!

  2. Michelle @Because Reading

This month got away from me so fast I failed big time on the Take Control Challenge. I didn’t do bad on Blog Ahead but I drafted more than scheduled but I am totally fine with that since setting up the post always take me longer than writing it.

I am so in love with the cover of The Uncommoners!

I hope you have a great week, Lark! Happy Reading! ox

You and me both, Michelle! I honestly don’t know if I can squeeze in many (or any) more Take Control books. Maybe one or two…

  3. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

We loved the John Adams series! The casting was absolutely amazing and I loved John Adams’ reaction to Franklin’s popularity in France. You’ve done some great reading and are killing it on the blog ahead challenge! I really enjoyed the Nora Roberts trilogy and I have the Heather Graham book coming up. Really looking forward to it! Have a great week!

I’m really loving the John Adams series, too. It’s fairly consistent with his depiction in 1776, but far more complex and nuanced. He was a very loving and dedicated husband, but not great at understanding his children, was he?
