  • Glamour in Glass (Mary Robinette Kowal) The sequel to Shades of Milk and Honey, which I loved.
  • Hidden Figures (Margot Lee Shetterly) The story of the black women mathematicians who worked in the Mercury space program.
  • Stars Above (Marissa Meyer) Short stories from the Lunar Chronicles world.
  • The Slow Regard of Silent Things (Patrick Rothfuss) I was completely blown away by The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man’s Fear, so I don’t know why I haven’t read this yet. I want to, believe me!

    Glad to read that you have lots of great books to read this spring. I don’t have a plan on which books I’ll read on spring. I’m a mood reader. I’m not good on planning something. But I have some titles that are on my radar so far, so I think they will be my reads on spring.

      I’m a bit of a mood reader, too. But there’s enough variety in that list that (hopefully) I’ll be in the mood to read all of them, or at least most of them, before spring is over.

    The Bone Witch and Hidden Figures are both on my list. I have Hidden Figures- so I hope to get to it soon. So many books to read. 🙂 Maybe I will get some reading in after I do some more shoveling (we are in the middle of a blizzard right now and as much as I dread it- I have to keep up with the shoveling).

    I started “The Name of the Wind” a couple summers ago and, 30 or so pages in, I just wasn’t feeling it. I think it just wasn’t what I was in the mood for at the moment, despite having looked forward to it forever. I’m hoping to give it another try soon! I’m pretty sure I’m going to love it.

    I really want to read “A Study in Scarlet Women” too! I just did a Sherlock spin-off display at work and it reminded me that I had been excited to read it back in the fall.

    I’m not a huge cozy mystery fan, but I just looked up the Honeychurch Hall series and I think I might give it a try!

      I had to push through the initial section of The Name of the Wind to get to the point where he starts telling his story, beginning with his childhood. After that point, I was soon hooked. But the first section, which forms a framing story, is harder to get into. Hang in there, because wow, is it worth it!

      I think the Honeychurch Hall series would appeal to non-cozy lovers. It’s a bit eccentric, in the British mystery tradition, but it’s also… I don’t want to say ‘realistic’ exactly, but it takes into account the ways in which British society has changed and the effects of those changes on the Great Houses and the families associated with them, from the aristocracy down to the local villagers. In a way, the series is a little more serious than the run-of-the-mill modern cozy series. I think it’s more like a mix of Agatha Christie and Margery Allingham in flavor and tone, but updated to the current time.

    I almost added Hidden Figures to my list too. I’ll probably end up reading that one after I’ve seen the movie, which looks so good.

    An Extraordinary Union sounds really good. I’m reading another book set in the years up to and during the Civil War and am really enjoying it, so I’ll have to check out this one too. And also the Amanda Quick sounds great. My TBR list is going to be massive 😀

      I know; I’ve added several books to my TBR list just from looking at everyone’s TTT posts this week! And my TBR list was pretty massive already…

      I’m on the library hold list for A Study in Scarlet Women, but I have an ARC of The Girl Who Knew Too Much, so I’ll be reading it soon. (But I’ll be happy when this trend of “Girl” titles goes away…)

    I’d like to read all of these! Super excited to hear about the Graphic Novel spin off of The Lunar Chronicles!!!! I hadn’t heard that was coming and Iko is great. I hope you enjoy Stars Above – I enjoyed it though not as much as the full books. I’d also especially like to get my hands on Prose and Cons and A Study in Scarlet Women.

      I’m looking forward to Stars Above, though short stories are rarely as satisfying as full-length novels. Still, it helps that the characters are already developed and familiar. Have a great week!

    Frogkisser looks fun! I read The Bone Witch and adored it. A lot of readers found the detailing tedious, but I loved it. I also loved Hidden Figures. I have been sworn to reading a Rothfuss title, so I will be looking to see if you review this one. 🙂

      Frogkisser just came in at the library, so hopefully I can squeeze it in next week. Can’t wait to read Hidden Figures and The Bone Witch, too.
