All you need are a few old books, some plastic novelty toys, paper towels, Glue N’ Seal or Mod Podge, and black and metallic paint.

    What a fun take on this week’s prompt, Lark! Last fall I made myself a wand for my Hermione costume with the dowel/glue gun method and I also made a few recycled book pumpkins, which are currently adorning our living room. I love that Hogwarts ceiling!

      I love that ceiling! Wish I’d had Pinterest and known about craft blogs back when I did a Harry Potter party for our daughter. I’d love to see your book pumpkins; are you going to put them on your blog?

      They use electric (battery) tea lights, so there’s no flame – totally safe! And the “candle” part is a paper towel tube with hot glue to make the drips. I really like the decoupaged pumpkin idea, too. I’d probably mess the other one up, but decoupage I can do.

  5. Got My Book

    Halloween isn’t my favorite holiday (I don’t like horror or scary), but I love crafts. There are some fun ideas here that can be done for any theme.

      True. And I’m not into horror or scary either, which is why I tried to keep most of these more whimsical or magical, or just a little spooky. But you’re right that some could easily be adjusted for other themes. 🙂

      I didn’t have time to actually do any of these this year, but I’m thinking of trying one or two next year. I think the floating candles would be really cool on my porch.
