The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  It’s a chance to share news.  A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
Sharing the same reading tastes with other members of your family is a joy, but it comes with its funny moments.  On Wednesday, my daughter said to me, “It’s disconcerting when your mom reads the same blogs you do.  I was reading one of the comments on the Book Smuggler’s blog, and I thought, ‘I would like this person,” and then I thought, ‘Mom would like this person’ — and then I realized it was you!”

I’m really going to miss her when she goes off to college — we love so many of the same books that we can have really geeky fanfests about them.  Luckily, I’ve discovered the wonderful world of book bloggers — lots of people who love to talk about books.  I appreciate each and every one of you I’ve met so far, and look forward to meeting a lot more of you!

I also added a LinkyFollowers widget.  (Look for it in the sidebar, just below the GFC Followers widget.)  I know that not everyone has a Google Friends Connect account, so this offers another option for following my blog.  LinkyFollowers is a free service that lets you follow all your favorite blogs in one place and even group them into categories.

All this month I’m participating in the Take Control of your TBR Pile challenge sponsored by Kimba the Caffeinated Reviewer.

That means that in addition to the review books I’ve committed to (see below!), I’ll be trying to get some books off my TBR pile.  Whenever I do, I’ll post reviews.  Some of these are relatively new books (remember those piles of books I’ve been bringing home from the library?)  If I’m extra-specially lucky and get a lot of time to read (hah!), I’ll also try to get to some of the older books that have been sitting around for longer.  The third Green Rider novel has been making come-hither eyes at me for months.

I’m excited about all three of these!  Unfortunately, they’ve all arrived at once, and in the middle of the TBR Pile challenge, so I’ll be alternating stuff from my TBR pile with these review e-books.

    That’s so funny about your daughter! It’s definitely great that you guys read the same kinds of books.

    I’ve also got Spellbinding, but I’m totally jealous that you got Gameboard of the Gods. How did you manage that? I MUST KNOW YOUR SECRETS! 🙂

      That’s good to know! I hope to get to it sometime this month… there are stacks and stacks of books staring me in the face. Right now I’m reading (and enjoying) Splintered.

      It’s a lot of fun. My college-age daughter has been introducing me to good books (and TV — she got me on to Sherlock) for a number of years now — a fair exchange for all the great books I’ve hooked her on (and keep introducing her to.) But I think she’s well aware of how alike we are — a bit too much, if you were to ask her! 😉

      And yes, I’m definitely looking forward to The Sweetest Dark.

      I haven’t made much progress on my TBR pile yet; I’ve had a busy couple of weeks outside of reading and blogging, and a review book I needed to get through. I’m working on it now, though… after chorus rehearsals this afternoon.

      Hi, Kimba! I always love seeing you here, and on your blog! Yes, I’m reading Splintered now; it’s already overdue at the library. I’ve got a big library stack to work through, and another huge stack of stuff I own but haven’t read yet, so I’ve got plenty to keep me busy if I can only find the time to read it all.

    It’s so sweet that your daughter read your comment and thought she’d like this person before realizing it was you! My daughter doesn’t do much reading – she’s in film, so her life is all about films and TV – but my older son likes to read and we enjoy similar books. It’s nice discussing the books we’ve both read! With my TBR, I’ve been mostly going through the books I have out from the library, since they have a deadline to them, so to speak. It doesn’t help, though, that each week more holds come in for me!

      I love discussing (oh, heck, call it what it is — geeking over!) books with my daughter, too.

      And like you, I’m hitting the pile of library books first. In fact, the one I’m reading now is already overdue, so the sooner I finish it, the better…

      I hope I have time for the readathon. Since the choruses I direct rehearse on Sunday afternoons, I spend a fair bit of the weekend getting ready — making sure I know the music, practicing conducting, preparing practice CDs for the kids to take home. But I’ll keep working on the monthly challenge. Even if I only get to a few books on my TBR pile, it’s better than none at all!

      It’s a lot of fun. We just finished the second of Patrick Rothfuss’s Kingkiller Chronicles, so now we can speculate about the third book and all the unanswered mysteries together.

      I hope I’ll enjoy Richelle Meade’s book, too! I’m embarrassed to admit that I haven’t read any of her books yet, so this will be the first. But everyone keeps raving about her, and the premise looks promising!
