The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  It’s a chance to share news.  A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

My indexing business has really picked up in the last week or two!  This is great for our finances, but not quite so good for the blog, since I need to spend a lot more time working.  I’ll do my best to keep up, but I’ll probably have to pull back a little on posting during the next few weeks.

Things are going well in other areas as well.  My children’s and youth choruses had their first rehearsal last Sunday, and I was really pleased at how quickly and well they started learning the music.   And I’m also enjoying the music that the adult chorus is doing; we had our first rehearsal this week as well.

The computer saga continues; it’s been sent off for repair, and now it’s just “wait and see.”  Thank goodness my husband’s computer is in good shape! (Knock wood.)

As for the government shutdown, thankfully, our family hasn’t been financially impacted so far.  My heart goes out to all the people who are impacted, either through being furloughed or from the myriad other effects of the shutdown.  We’re not entirely unaffected; our church on the base where my husband works uses priests on contract rather than military chaplains, so they are not allowed to work.  We have no Mass and no music, just readings and prayers led by a lay reader.  It’s a small thing compared with loss of a paycheck, but it’s disappointing.  Here’s hoping that Congress gets its act together soon!

    The Fall of Arthur is on my wishlist. I should see if my library has it. I think I’ll see if Easy Bake Coven is still free; it looks cute.

    Currently none of my family are affected by the shutdown, thank goodness. But for everyone’s sake, I hope the situation is resolved soon. Lay readers are wonderful but when you’re used to a priest, it’s definitely not the same.

      I’m glad your family hasn’t been affected by the shutdown, and I’m with you — I hope it gets resolved soon. We went to church elsewhere today; nice experience, but I missed our own church ‘family’.

    Hope you get your computer back soon…I really hate computer problems! Right now I’m fine, as my laptop is fairly new (and knock wood, still working along). But just the slightest glitch, and I’m panicking. I had lots of problems with my old desktop.

      Thank you, Laurel-Rain! I’m getting by with Mr. Bookwyrm’s laptop, while he uses an old one we kept as a backup. But I hope I get my own machine back soon!

    Nice review of Will in Scarlet, missed it first time around. I’ll add that to my list, I like good riffs on the Robin Hood mythos. I just saw it in the bookstore MG section too, recognized it from another review I saw (also positive).

    Good luck w/ the computer. So frustrating stuff like that… as for your haul, curious to see your thoughts on Between Two Thorns. I had that on my list for a while, had it recommended, but for some reason have not started it.

      Thanks, Greg. I don’t know when I’ll get to Between Two Thorns, but it archives soon, so I’ll have to try to squeeze it in. I didn’t see the archive date when I requested it, and thought I had until the March publication date! It looks interesting, though. Glad you enjoyed the Will in Scarlet review.

      Yes, it does. It’s one of her Fool’s Gold books; I’ve liked the one book and one novella I’ve read so far, and one of her other series, too, so I’m looking forward to this one.

    I thought I had commented here already, but I was interrupted a few times by the family (how dare they!) and might have lost the comment! Anyway, I just wanted to say you got some good books this week. The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry, Shore Lights and Easy Bake Coven all sound especially good.

    I’m glad the shut down has affected your family too badly, I hate seeing the burden it’s put on some people. Good luck with the computer – my internet has been going in and out a lot today, so I can only imagine being without my computer altogether. Thank goodness you have a backup!

    Oh and the Christmas book looks fun – I love holiday books. Enjoy your books 🙂

      Thank you, Berls! One of the lovely things about book blogging is how friendly and supportive other bloggers are. I’m really blessed to have both a backup computer and a husband who’s still working despite the shutdown. And of course my freelance work is unaffected.

      I can’t wait to get to those holiday books! I have about five ARCs on my ereader already.

    “The Storied Life..” looks interesting. I had never heard of it before. The Barbara Bretton looks like a good intro to a series. I have a personally signed book, Chances Are, which I won from her contest years ago, but haven’t picked her up recently. You always have fun and different titles to look at. Glad you are holding up okay with all the busy stuff going on. Enjoy reading.

      I hadn’t heard of The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry, either, but the cover got me to look at the blurb, and the blurb grabbed me enough to request it… so we’ll see!

      That’s great that you have a signed Barbara Bretton. I really liked the first of her paranormal series, so I’m looking forward to trying her — I guess I should call it a “normal” romance, since it isn’t paranormal?

      It just came back last night! Hopefully this time was the charm. Mr. Bookwyrm ran extensive tests overnight, and it passed with flying colors. Next step is to reload my programs and data onto the new hard drive. Fingers crossed!
