The big excitement for this week actually takes place tonight, when the children’s and youth choruses I direct and the adult chorus in which I sing present our fall concert. We had a good “dress” rehearsal this morning (much too early this morning!), and I’m really pleased. It should go well.

I’m participating in the year-long NetGalley Challenge sponsored by Red House Books. I still need to get a bunch of reviews linked up to this.
I’ve signed up for the Clean out your E-reader Challenge hosted by Fantasy is More Fun and Because Reading is more fun. The focus of the challenge is ebook freebies and bargain books, whether downloaded from a retailer like Amazon or received for review through NetGalley or Edelweiss. I’m hoping this will help me get through some of those Netgalley review copies! I’ve read about 5 books this month so far, which isn’t as many as I’d hoped. I’m in a bit of a slump, I’m afraid. It doesn’t help that my e-reader has slowed down to near-glacial pace, so it takes twice as long to turn a page as it used to.

Sometimes quiet Thanksgiving celebrations are just what we need to “recharge” our batteries. Mine usually are, although this year, I will be joining my daughter and one son, with their partners, and then two days later, celebrating with a few more family members.
So sorry to hear about Doris Lessing’s passing…she was an awesome author.

It was a tough week for losing good authors. Charlotte Zolotow wrote one of my absolute favorite children’s picture books, and she was a fantastic editor besides. Though I know from her daughter’s blog that she had memory problems in recent years.

I am so glad you picked up Extracted and I hope you bought it on the one day it was 1.99 Good luck tonight I am sure it will be lovely. My children will all be home for the holiday and bringing dates. My girls have been seeing their young men for a while, so they have become regulars at our table. I am making a 20lbs bird and making extra stuffing since both girls requested take home bags..hahaha!

We’ll enjoy our quiet Thanksgiving, but I’m also looking forward to Christmas and Boxing Day. We’ll be at my parents’ for the former, and then we all get together at my sister’s house the next day for a second Christmas dinner and big family party.

It’ll be a quiet Thanksgiving here. Just the 3 youngest at home. We’ll watch football, eat then as we do every year kick off the Christmas season by watching Scrooged. lol Thanksgiving weekend is our time to decorate and pick out a tree. 🙂

I don’t think we’ll be doing a tree this year, because we’ll be away for Christmas. But I do plan to put up some of the Christmas decorations around the house — the ones the cats can’t ruin, anyway!

It’s hard to be so far from family. We used to have my husband’s parents nearby, but they both passed away in the last five years, so now it’s just us. I have cousins about 2 hours away; I should try to see them more often.

Let’s just say that I am seriously falling down on the job on this COYER challenge. Partly it’s because my e-reader has slowed down so much, it takes too long to get through the books. But I have a huge backlog of unread books on their, and an embarrasingly large number of them are ARCs, freebies, and bargains.
