Sunday Post – 6/08/14

June 8, 2014 Sunday Post, week in review 38

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  It’s a chance to share news, a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

I realize that I completely forgot to mention my new Tumblr, which I started a few weeks ago.  So now I’m on Facebook, Twitter (@BookwyrmsHoard), Pinterest, and Tumblr — all of them related to the blog. If you’re on any of these sites, I hope you’ll follow me!

On the personal side: I got my project done and turned in (yay!) Our concert is tonight — the one Robin and I are singing in, not the one I directed. We’re singing Haydn’s Paukenmesse or Kettledrum Mass, also known as the Missa in tempore belli (Mass in the time of war) – complete with organ, chamber ensemble (5 strings, oboe, flute, bassoon, trumpet) and, of course, tympani. We had our first and only rehearsal with the instrumentalists today. It’s going to sound awesome!

This series has been on my mental TBR list for a while, but I couldn’t find any — until the last library sale, when I picked up four of them. I read two and liked them enough to start ordering the ones I’m missing, so I can read the series in order.

Congrats on your project 🙂 I’ve got a few of those books on my to-read shelf, especially Firelight. Have a great reading week !

    • Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Firelight’s been on my TBR list for a year or two, but this is the first time I’ve seen it on sale, so I snapped it up! I hope you have a good week, too! Thanks for stopping by.

    • Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

It’s a great piece and pretty challenging. I sang it almost 20 years ago (with the same group!), and hardly remembered any of it, so it’s been fun re-learning it.

    • Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

I’ve actually read The Apple Orchard – as an ARC, last year. I wanted my own copy, so when it went on sale for Kindle, I went ahead and bought it! I’m looking forward to Love Letters; I like the Rose Harbor series. Happy reading!

  2. kimbacaffeinate

Ok, I am officially stalking you everywhere! Love Letters looks good and I got the audio sync books too. Good luck at the concert tonight and woot for finishing that project!

  3. Katherine P

Good luck at the concert! Sounds like it will be incredible! I added you on twitter. I’ve got to spend some time figuring out how to get my follow links in the sidebar! I think that’s next on my list. I loved The Apple Orchard and now want Pursuit and Persuasion and A Plain Scandal. Look forward to your reviews and your Top Ten this week. I’m sure I’ll find some books to add to my TBR!

  4. Greg

Maybe I should get a copy of The Lightning thief- my kids are interested in mythology but have not read these. They would probably like them. I also enjoyed your News post this week- I finally broke down and read the YA article that everyone is talking about. Interesting, but I’m just glad people are reading- whatever it is.

Good luck with your concert, and have a great week Lark!

    • Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Your kids would probably love it, Greg! My daughter certainly does.

Thanks for the good wishes! The concert went really well. There’s nothing like singing great music with great instrumentalists!

    • Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Thank you, I did! It was fantastic!

I have so many books I’ve had for a few years and haven’t read yet. I really should stop getting new ones, but some are just too tempting!

  5. Yvonne

All those books look so good. I really want to read The Apple Orchard. Enjoy and have a great week!

  6. Rita_h

Good job with all the social media networking. I am so old-school, it’s not funny. Well, also I got my twitter hacked 2x in 10 months, so goodbye to that.
I grabbed Firelight as a 1.99 special on Amazon and put More than Magic and Be Careful What You Witch For on my overflowing wishlist.
Have fun with your joyful music tonight!

    • Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Oh, getting your Twitter account hacked was probably no fun. Knock wood, I haven’t had any trouble with mine so far. Glad you were able to grab Firelight! Have a great week, Rita.

  7. Bea

So many lovelies 🙂 Congrats on finishing your project, and good luck with the concert tonight.

  8. Berls

Good luck at the concert – how exciting! You got some really great books too – I’m doing all I can to avoid clicking, because I have to STOP getting books I don’t have time to read yet! LOL. I don’t have pintrest or tumblr yet… maybe I should get on that. But stalking you elsewhere 🙂

    • Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Omigosh, I know exactly what you mean. Every week, I swear I won’t buy any more books, and every week, the bargains and freebies include several that I just can’t say no to. I’ve got to get better about that! Thanks for “stalking” – and ditto!

  9. Angela's Anxious Life

How fun that you sing. I love music soooo much and have always wished I could sing. I have a tumblr but never actually use it. I do log in to find gifs for my blog posts, but that’s about it. I am really enjoying instagram. That is where you need to head next!

    • Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Angela, if you love music, you could totally learn to sing. Either private or group voice lessons, or find a community chorus that doesn’t have auditions to join. I’d offer to teach you, but I’m pretty sure wherever you are, the commute would be prohibitive!

Instagram… I’ve been avoiding that one; I feel like I just can’t take on another social media site. Of course, I thought the same thing about Tumblr, and now look!

  10. A Voracious Reader

Look at all those delicious books! Delicious? I must be hungry. lol Yay on completed projects and I hope the concert was trouble free. Have a wonderful week!

  11. Natalie Hearts Books

I hope your concert went wonderfully, I bet it did.

I read The Lightening Thief last summer and I really enjoyed it, hopefully I will get to the est of the series this summer.

    Enjoy all your new books.

Oh and I followed you on Tumblr 😉

    • Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard

Oh, thank you for the Tumblr follow! The concert went really, really well. As for the Percy Jackson books, I just finished re-reading the third one. They’re addictive!

  12. Melissa (My World...in words and pages)

Ooo, those Magic covers are wild. Love them.

I have thought about getting on Tumblr, but haven’t really done it yet. Or…I’ll have to check, maybe I am. So many different places it’s hard to remember them all. lol.

Hope you are having a great week!
