Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers in our lives!  I’m thankful today for both of mine, and for my wonderful husband, who’s such a good father to our daughter.

It’s been a busy week but a good one here at The Bookwyrm’s Hoard.  I’ve been trying to catch up with reviews — I posted two this week, and I have several finished and scheduled for the next few weeks.

On the non-blogging front, my voice teacher has recovered from a pretty scary health crisis, so I had my first lesson in over two months.  I’m so glad she’s better, and also glad to be singing with her again.

Thursday’s heavy storms were pretty exciting.  My daughter and I were on the road when my phone alerted us to a tornado warning.  We raced to the nearest shelter I could count on — the library headquarters — and took shelter on the basement level with about 40 or 50 other people. Once the warning expired, we emerged to find no evidence of a storm other than wet pavements and some leaves and other minor debris.  We were lucky; the storms caused more damage further north of us.

I hope you had a good week and that you weren’t impacted by the eastern storms or the fires out west.

I forgot to add last month’s titles until it was too late (darn it!), but I’m trying to do better this month.  His Majesty’s Hope is the first NetGalley ARC review I’ve posted this month, but it won’t be the last.

    I had forgotten, or didn’t realize, that you’re a singer! Cheers to your teacher for her recovery, and to you for being back beside the piano. My voice teacher passed away a couple of years ago; she was in her eighties, and I was her student for years, right up till she quit teaching. She was wonderful, and I’m always grateful for what she taught me.

    Love that Google doodle for Maurice Sendak, too. 🙂

      Thank you, Jenna. I didn’t know you are a singer, too, though I did remember that you love music. I’m sorry for the loss of your teacher.

      It was a little nerve-wracking while we were trying to get to the library, but once we were there, I felt fairly safe.

      It was a relief that we only got heavy thunderstorms and not a tornado — though there were a few small ones in the area, as it turns out. But nothing in our immediate neighborhood, nor between the library and our house (about a 25-minute drive.)

      I look forward to your review of The Newcomer, too! I do like Robyn Carr!

    You have some good books to look forward to! I love Laurie King, but I’m a couple of books behind now.

    I’m so glad your voice teacher is well again and that you can take lessons again. I’m always in awe of someone who sings. And I’m so glad you and your daughter were safe during the storms this week. We also had a tornado warning, but the storm went south of us and another went north. Luckily, the storms weren’t as bad as they feared.

    Also, I moved my blog to WordPress this week and am still learning everything! Here is the new address (I haven’t figured out how to elegantly add my blog post address…lol)

      Thanks, Jan. I know you’re north of us, and not by that much (an hour or an hour-and-a-half at a guess), so I was concerned about those tornado warnings to our north. I’m so glad you’re OK!

      Congratulations on your blog movie! I’m really interested to hear about it; I hope you’ll write a post about it. I’m considering moving mine, so I’m curious as to what went easily and what was trickier to figure out… and especially how you handle redirecting visitors to the new address.

      It felt great to be back to singing! I mean, I’ve been singing in church choir and in an awesome community choir, but it was good to be back working on solo stuff again. And a huge relief that my teacher, whom I’ve come to really like, is all right.

      Sorry you did not like Candy Store. I haven’t read any Bella Andre yet, but perhaps that’s not the best one to start with?

      They really have, haven’t they? We’re fortunate to live in an area that rarely gets the really big E4s and E5s. But Virginia has been seeing a lot more of the smaller ones in the last 10 years or so, and we’re all learning to take the warnings seriously.

      Thanks, Dani! I swear, between ARCs, bargains, freebies, and the library, each week I’m getting three or four times as many new books in as I can actually read. I may have to go on a book diet!

      Thanks, Jessica! Yes, it was a little scary, especially while I was driving across the bridge.

      The Kindle thing is funny; I don’t have one yet, but I’m probably going to break down eventually and get one… so I’m stocking up ahead of time. ;D Meanwhile, I have the app for my laptop. And my ePub Sony Reader, of course, but it doesn’t read Kindle books.
