Sunday Post – 2/09/14

February 9, 2014 Sunday Post 4

The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  It’s a chance to share news.  A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Robin finished her Winter Block playwriting course, which she loved.  Mr. Bookwyrm spent a day or two at home with back spasms, but thankfully, he’s doing much better now.  Other than that, it’s been a very ordinary — not to say boring! — week.

Not that I want the wrong sort of excitement, mind you!  No blizzards or earthquakes or what have you.  But I have discovered that despite being an introvert and enjoying my quiet time, I need a little real-life contact with people who share my interests, now that I’m not spending time with other homeschooling parents.  There are church and choir, of course, and in March the community choruses start up again. (Yay! I can’t wait!)  This week, I went to the knit-and-stitch session at the yarn store on Tuesday, which was fun and helped me rekindle some of my knitting mojo.  It’s a long way from here, though, and I do work from home during the days, so I’ll probably only go a few times a month.

I’m also joining a book group at my local library, which will be a first for me.  Believe it or not, I’ve never been in one before!  This month, we’ll be reading Julia Spencer-Fleming’s In the Bleak Midwinter; the meeting is toward the end of the month.  I’m looking forward to it!

Yes, my knitting shelves so needed some more books!  The Twisted Sisters Sock Workbook may get me into trouble.  It shows how to dye “bare” yarn and roving and how to spin your own sock yarn from roving.  Uh-oh.  I’ve been steadfastly resisting the temptation to learn to spin (where would I find the time?) but the siren call of the spindle is getting louder.

The Bryson book is in audio format. The Roberts is paperback – and I’ve already plowed through it!

More knitting books, heh we all have our obsessions. 😀 Enjoy your knitting sessions, however often you make it in.

A Roux of Revenge and The Yarn Spinner both look good, happy reading!

Nice review of Shadows, that sounds really good. I keep seeing positive things about Robin McKinley. The cozies look like fun as well…

Good luck also with your book club!

Stitch n Bitch: Nation is a great book. I love the whole series. I learned how to knit with the first book.
