COYER Summer Vacation is hosted by Berls @ Fantasy Is More Fun and Michelle B @ Because Reading

I’m taking a summer vacation — a COYER Summer Vacation! COYER stands for Clean Out Your E-Reader, a challenge which takes place three times a year. Usually, it’s just for those freebies and bargain books in your ereader, but for summer vacation, the rules have been thrown out the window. ARCs, review books, paperbacks, audiobooks — basically, if it’s a book, it counts. The challenge runs from June 21 to Sept. 5 — pretty much the whole summer. There are themed readathons, too; you can check them out at the intro post. Just click the button above.

My goals: Rather than list any specific books, I’m setting a goal of at least two books per week: one ARC or review copy, and one purchased/free/gifted/borrowed book (preferably one I already have, although pre-orders count.) That way, I’ll get some of my backlog of TBR books read, while still making progress on ARCs.

I need to read about 3 books per week to make my Goodreads Reading Challenge goal (175 books), but I want to keep the flexibility to read old favorites — something I need when I’m stressed out. Some weeks, the extra book will have to be an ARC; other weeks, it can be whatever I’m in the mood for. Of course, under the COYER rules that third book counts; I’m just not setting up any hard-and-fast rules about what it has to be. (Obviously, a re-read won’t count for the challenge.)

I’m really looking forward to this! If you want to see how I’m doing from week to week, you can check the “Monthly Challenges” page. I might also post an occasional update on my Sunday Posts.

Many thanks to Berls @ Fantasy Is More Fun and Michelle B @ Because Reading for hosting COYER Summer Vacation!

That sounds like a great plan! So glad you are joining us. This is going to be so much fun and I do hope it helps you with your Goodreads goal. Mine needs this challenge too.
Good Luck, I can’t wait to see what you will be reading!!

I joined too but didn’t make a plan. I’m already scheduled for most of the summer so I’ll start with those and add in whatever I feel like. I’m ahead on my goodreads goal at the moment but it won’t last. 😀

    Good luck!

Your plan sounds good, too! I’m about 2 books ahead for my GR goal, but like you, I know it won’t last… and then I’ll have a week off from indexing and go on a reading binge and hopefully catch up again. 😉

I love your plan Lark! I may steal it since I haven’t come up with a plan yet. I will probably change my approach multiple times between now and June 21 and then a few times after too lol! So glad you’re joining us 🙂

I’m not sure I’d call it a “plan” – more like a loose guideline! But if it works for you, go for it! I figure I’ll probably change my approach now and then as the challenge gets underway. Some weeks I may have to read nothing but ARCs, at the rate I’m going!

It sounds like you have a good plan set up! As long as I knock a few extra books off of my TBR shelves I will be VERY happy 🙂 Good luck with this challenge, and I hope you find lots of great books to read!

Looking at how many of my review books come out in July, I’m not at all sure I can stick to the plan! It may be nothing but review books for the next month… but at least I’ll be getting them off my TBR list! 🙂
