Sunday Post — 5/04//14

May 4, 2014 Sunday Post, week in review 20

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  It’s a chance to share news, a post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

This is going to be a very busy week coming up. I’ve got to finish an indexing project and start another one. And my choruses have their concert next Sunday, so I’ve got a lot to do to get ready: prepare and print the program, get the last-minute publicity out, and make sure I’m really confident with the music. The kids are doing well, but there’s still some polishing to do at today’s rehearsal! It will come together; it always does!

With all that going on, it may take me a little while to get to your comments this week, so please be patient with me!

Mr. Bookwyrm and I have been watching old West Wing episodes for about 6 months now. We recently finished Season 6, so there’s only one more to go. The uncanny thing is how relevant it still is, a decade or so later: deficit fights, government shut-downs, partisan fights… Even the issues have hardly changed; West Wing dealt with health care, gun control, education reform, energy policy, trade policy, and a lot of the other issues we’re still grappling with as a country. I’ve been enjoying the show, but when we’re done with it, I’m ready for something really different. It’s either going to be Doctor Who or Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. (Probably both!)

The Clean Sweep ARC Challenge started Thursday; it runs through May. I’ve already started the first ARC on my list.  I’d be finished with it, too — if my Kindle hadn’t run out of battery last night! Fortunately I had a backup book (an old favorite) on my nightstand.

Happy Star Wars Day, and May the Fourth be with you!

    • Sat. 5/10/14:  News & Notes – 5/10/14
    • Reviews and other posts TBDit depends partly on which ARCs I get read and whether I can post them yet, or need to pull something out of the treasure chest.

Yeah, I went a trifle overboard! I’ve already read The Sweetest Dark when it was an ARC; I just wanted my own copy, so I can re-read it whenever the third book comes out. The others, well… you know how it is!

That’s it for this week! Happy reading!

I’m often struck by how we seem to be debating the same issues in our political life over and over- can relate to that observation! Happy Star Wars day to you and have a great week! I think the Fierce Reads anthology looks good, the short stories in it all sound intriguing.

Good luck with the work and chorus I am sure it will all come together nicely. You have a fantastic haul this week and I am glad to see you got Andre! May the Fourth be with you!

Today’s rehearsal was terrific so I’m really pleased and excited for next weekend’s concert!

I think that makes 3 Andre books for me so far, though I’ve only read one yet. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

I like him too, and his character, Sam Seabourne. Lowe left the show in… Season 4 or 5, I think. Apparently he wanted off, though his leaving was sort of abrupt and his character is never heard from again. But the other actors are all somewhere between very good and amazing, and the show stayed pretty good throughout its run. I’m enjoying seasons 6 and 7, which deal with the next presidential campaign between a Democrat played by Jimmy Smits and a Republican played by Alan Alda. Have fun, if you decide to watch!

Good luck with your week, I hope all goes well.

Oh, in answer to your question on my wrap up post at my blog, yes, go for it! I’d be delighted.

Those are some pretty covers, aren’t they! I’ve always loved the cover of Forest Born; I don’t know why it’s taking me so long to get around to reading the series.

        Thank you!

Lol! Love “May the fourth be with you.” I can’t wait for the next movie!!! You added quite a few books. I’m participating in the arc challenge too. I hope we both get a lot of reading done!
