In the Dragon’s Eye: July 2018 New Releases

July 2, 2018 In the Dragon's Eye, Waiting On 12

July New Releases I Can’t Wait to Read

The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal (July 3) I loved Kowal’s Shades of Milk and Honey and Ghost Talkers, two historical fantasies set in very different time frames. In The Calculating Stars, Kowal expands on an alternate history based on her Hugo Award-winning novelette “The Lady Astronaut of Mars” (which you can read online here.) Frankly, I’ll read anything she writes!

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik (July 10) Novik’s Uprooted is a gorgeously written original fairy tale (with elements of Beauty and the Beast and one or two other tales.) In Spinning Silver, Novik takes on the Rumplestiltskin tale, and I have no doubt that this one will be equally wonderful. I’ve never read anything of hers that wasn’t!

🙂 Which three? I’m planning to buy Spinning Silver, because I can’t imagine not liking a Naomi Novik. And I plan to buy The Calculating Stars as well; Kowal writes so well. The others I either have as ARCs or will borrow from the library, because shelf space is at a premium at my house!

I can’t wait for Spinning Silver! Uprooted was such a great read. I loved it. 🙂

I know! Uprooted was amazing. One of these days I’ll try rewriting my review, which got deleted (through a WordPress or GoDaddy glitch) just as I finished it.

There are so many books I’m excited about this month! Shelved for Murder is one I’m super excited about. I loved the first one. The Corpse at Crystal Palace looks so great and I always look forward to anything by Heather Graham!

I’m reading Shelved for Murder right now — and just downloaded the first book from the library, because I’m enjoying this one so much.
