Bookish News

Worth Reading/Viewing

Books, Movies, and TV

  • We have not one, but two LOTR: The Rings of Power trailers: the main trailer, and another released at San Diego Comic Con. Alas, I have almost entirely forgotten the Silmarillion, so I don’t know how closely they are hewing to the material in it, but the series looks good so far.
  • Also, We’re getting a new book by Michelle Obama this fall, entitled The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times. (Literary Hub)

Bookish Quote

Bookish quote: Books should go where they will be most appreciated, and not sit unread, gathering dust on a forgotten shelf, don't you agree? -- Christopher Paolini

I don’t think I do agree with that Paolini quote. I want to keep the books on my shelf, even the ones I have forgotten about, so that I can be surprised by the discovery later. Though I’m all in favor of MORE books going to other places where they can be “most” appreciated. But I still appreciate my books, even if that’s not the “most” appreciated place for them.

Sorry. I’m grumpy after the reminder of the HarperCollins strike news and the unfairness in publishing. Sigh.
