My Week
I finally finished the really tough index and promptly had to start on two of the three I have due in late April. It’s going to be another really busy month. I even managed to squeeze in an hour or so of spinning on Thursday night, and started a new knitting project. I’m also slowly getting over being sick.
Mr. Bookwyrm and I went to a Stile Antico concert on Friday night — the first time I’ve been out of the house in two weeks. Stile Antico is (or are) an early music vocal ensemble, with beautiful voices, a lovely blend, and wonderful technique. Below is a video of Stile Antico singing William Byrd’s Ave verum corpus (video from YouTube, not from the concert we heard.) Though there are instruments on the stage in the video, Friday’s concert was completely a capella. The venue was a Catholic cathedral in the Italian Renaissance Revival style, and the acoustics were amazing — perfect for this type of music. They did a mix of sacred and secular music from the reign of Elizabeth I, by William Byrd, Thomas Tallis, John Tavener, Orlando de Lassus, John Dowland, and some other composers I was less familiar with.
Unfortunately, no sooner had we gotten home than Mr. Bookwyrm discovered he has a fever. He’s had cold symptoms for a few days, but we hoped it wouldn’t get any worse. Now we’re hoping it’s the same thing I’m just getting over, so I don’t get sick again.

What I’m Reading/Watching
Reading: I finished rereading Nora Roberts’ Inn BoonesBoro trilogy, followed by the Grace Valley trilogy by Robyn Carr (also a reread.) Now I’m continuing with Someone to Care by Mary Balogh (ARC) as well as rereading the Petaybee trilogy by Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth Scarborough. As I remembered, it’s OK but not as good as McCaffrey’s Pern and Talents series. I also need to get back to The Slow Regard of Silent Things, by Patrick Rothfuss.
Listening to: I have been re-listening to Tamora Pierce’s Immortals quartet, and finished books three and four this week: Emperor Mage and The Realms of the Gods. The Full Cast Audio recordings are terrific. Now I’m listening to Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier, which for some unaccountable reason, I’ve never listened to before. The narrator, Kim Mai Guest, is excellent, giving Jena just enough of an accent to be charming.
Watching: Father Brown season 6, and a few spinning tutorials on YouTube.

Here’s hoping for the down time! I pretty much took the weekend off but tomorrow I plunge back into indexing. It’s playing havoc with my blog, too. I can squeeze in some reading here and there, but I’m not good at writing quick reviews. Still, I’m so grateful to have the work!
