April 15, 2018 Sunday Post 6

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

 My Week

Another busy week in which I don’t seem to have accomplished much. I’ll have to do better this coming week. Mr. Bookwyrm was sick this week, but he’s doing better now. Robin and my parents are back in the States today, after three weeks in Britain. I can’t wait to hear about their trip!

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading:  I reread the Petaybee trilogy by Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth Scarborough, and read Amanda Quick’s With This Ring, which I picked up on sale for Kindle this week. And I’m continuing with  Someone to Care by Mary Balogh (ARC). I still need to get back to The Slow Regard of Silent Things, by Patrick Rothfuss. It’s beautiful, and I’m so reluctant to finish it!

Listening to: I started Wildwood Dancing early in the week, but paused to relisten to Tamora Pierce’s Circle of Magic quartet first. They suited my mood better, especially while spinning… because one of the main characters, Sandry, is a spinner/weaver/fiber mage. I’ve listened to Sandry’s Book, Tris’s Book, and Daja’s Book. Next up is the series conclusion, Briar’s Book.

Watching: We finally saw Victoria and Abdul, and it was wonderful (though it tends to uphold the colonial narrative.) I love Judi Dench as Victoria! We also watched a few episodes of Father Brown season 6, and I went through some spinning tutorials on YouTube.

For Review or Review Consideration

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books (St. Martin’s), and Lyrical Underground (Kensington.) I didn’t realize when I requested the Carola Dunn book that I’ve already read it; it’s one of the earlier books in the series. But that’s fine! It’s been probably 12 or 15 years since I read it, so I’ll enjoy rereading it.

Purchased for Kindle

The first three sci-fi/fantasy books are for my ongoing project of duplicating my favorite books on Kindle. (Someday I should do another post on why I’m doing that.) I like Amanda Quick and hadn’t read With This Ring yet. Adulting 101: Writing Through Life and Other Adventures was an impulse buy (on sale for 99 cents.)

Have a good week, and happy reading!

Ugh that’s frustrating – when you’re busy but don’t feel like you’ve accomplished much :/ I hope this week turns out better for you! Yay to Robin and the parents returning – I bet they’ll have some fun stories to share. Happy reading!

Thank you, Kimberly! I’m longing for May and a bit of a break from working so much. But at least we are both healthy now.

I really need to read a Jill Shavis book. You’d think I would have by now. Is her style anything like Kristan Higgins or Suzanne Elizabeth Smith? Those are two of my favs. I really enjoyed Wildwood Dancing. It’s been ages since I read it, but I really like her books. I hope you enjoy all your books and have a wonderful week!

I’d be happy to answer your question, but I haven’t read either of those authors! Have a wonderful week, and a great weekend.
