It’s been basically a working week; I haven’t done a lot else. The project is due by the coming weekend, so I’ll be pretty busy all week.

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished both Someone to Romance (Mary Balogh; ARC) and The Left-Handed Booksellers of London (Garth Nix; ARC), which is really cool and reminded me a little of Susan Cooper’s Dark is Rising series, but for YA readers. I also reread Seeing Darkness, because I owe it a review and forgot to write out my notes when I read it the first time. And I’m well past the halfway point in both An Extraordinary Union (Alyssa Cole) and Poirot Investigates (Agatha Christie.)

Audiobooks: I’m almost finished with The Secret of Chimneys (Agatha Christie, expertly read by Hugh Fraser.) Podcasts: Harry Potter and the Sacred Text and Imaginary Worlds, with a couple of 99% Invisible and Twenty Thousand Hertz episodes thrown in.

Watching: We have been watching a series on the Smithsonian channel called Aerial America, which has given us at least a virtual feeling of traveling. The aerial cinematography is often breathtaking, but the narration is a bit overblown. Most of the episodes focus on a single state; we’re much happier when they avoid the cities and focus on the landscape. With both of us working hard this past week, it has been restful to watch a show that doesn’t require much emotional investment!

    I would have loved to enter for Death at High Tide! Lovely review as well. Will list it on my TBR.

    I’ve never done an audio book on an Agatha Christie book. Is it any good? I love reading them. Some I’ve read over and over…!

    They did a short series of wildlife films, where they strapped a camera to a cheetah in the plains of Africa, and an eagle in Scotland, among others – and then made a film of the footage with no music or voiceover. If you can track them down, they are a solid delight. Very immersive. The one of the eagle was absolutely beautiful…

    I was already drawn to The Left-Handed Booksellers of London, but a comparison of The Dark is Rising is another strong incentive to get hold of it.

    I hope work eases up somewhat during this coming week and you have a good one.

    Our work has been so slow and we have nothing to do since they closed indoor dining. I am hoping when it opens up we will get busy again. I miss being busy lol.

    The Printed Letter Bookshop was one of my absolute favorite books of 2019. I hope you enjoy it! The Heather Graham looks good but I’m making myself read the last three before I can read this newest three! Hope your week is going well.
