Last Week
I am late posting this, because I worked flat out all week and weekend to finish an index project. I just turned it in this evening, and I’m really looking forward to a few days off!. Our monthly Zoom get-together with Mr. Bookwyrm’s side of the family was postponed until next Sunday, thank goodness. And all the work gave me an excuse to avoid watching the Republican convention.
A second round of Tour de Fleece started yesterday, to coincide with the actual Tour de France race (which had been postponed due to the pandemic.) I didn’t get to spin yesterday, but I plan to spin a little tonight if I can. My goal is to spin at least 15-20 minutes per day.
I am so sad about Chadwick Boseman’s death from cancer. He was a wonderful actor who brought depth, understanding, and compassion to his roles. He absolutely owned the role of T’Challa. I don’t know if they can ever do a sequel without him. It just wouldn’t be the same.

What I’m Reading/Watching
Reading: I followed up my Key Trilogy reread by rereading the Gallaghers of Ardmore trilogy, also by Nora Roberts: Jewels of the Sun, Tears of the Moon, and Heart of the Sea. Last night, I started Hideaway, also by Nora Roberts, which I am enjoying — at least so far! (Some of her books get a little too dark for me.) It’s a library ebook, and I have been on the waiting list since May. I’m also reading The Language of Ghosts (Heather Fawcett; ARC), which I started a few weeks ago, set aside for a bit, and picked up again this week.
Listening to: I finished Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews, mostly whilst doing laundry or washing dishes. I haven’t decided on my next audiobook yet.
Watching: Aerial America. After a long, hard day of very detail-oriented work, I’m finding this travel-documentary series rather restful. It doesn’t require any mental or emotional investment. And it’s adding to my list of places I want to visit, whenever travel is safe again.

I’m glad you finished and now can do some spinning and a bit more balance. I don’t need an excuse not to watch anything, I read books rather than watching anything on tv.

Mr. Bookwyrm tends to unwind by watching movies or TV shows. My most refreshing downtime is reading, but watching videos is a good way to squeeze in some knitting or spinning time. 🙂

More Tour de Fleece! Fun, though I doubt I’ll be participating this round either. I pulled out my loom recently, and I don’t want to have too many projects going at once. Maybe after I finish the scarf on the loom I can get the wheel out again. (Or maybe I’ll warp up another scarf. Who really knows in these pandemic times?)
While work is good, I hope you have a bit more restful time of it this week!

I can’t wait to see the scarf you’re doing! I swore I wouldn’t get into weaving, but I’m starting to hear the siren song. I’m beginning to look longingly at the Ashford SampleIt and Rigid Heddle looms. Or any tabletop loom with enough width to do scarves, at least.

Mine is a rigid heddle loom. I have the Kromski Harp Forte. I’ve really enjoyed working with it so far, though I am definitely still a beginner. I have a “learn to weave” book specifically for it, though, so hopefully now that I like my weaving set-up I will actually get some practice and learning in. (A side note: while loom stands are apparently not “traditional” for rigid heddle looms, I found it really annoying to weave without one. If you get one, do look into what the different set-ups will look like so that you can get the best experience with it.)

That’s good advice about the loom stand. I think weaving at table height might be a bit tough on my shoulders, especially since I’m short. But a stand does add to the overall cost. Well, it’s probably not something I’ll get into for a while yet.
