January 27, 2019 Sunday Post 6

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

 My Week

ETA: Oops! I didn’t realize I had scheduled this post for Monday, and didn’t catch my mistake until almost 10:30 Sunday night. So consider it a Sunday-Monday Post.

Hi, everyone! Sorry I’ve been MIA on the blog front this week. For most of the week, I had literally no time while I tried to finish a job. I turned in one index and started on the next one. And for the last day or two, I’ve been playing catch-up on other stuff and fighting a cold.  And taking care of my health, with visits to the dentist and eye doctor. No cavities (huzzah!), and only a small tweak to my glasses prescriptions—but hopefully that will help. The new lenses will be ready in a week or two.

In the coming week, I’ll be working on the new index and planning for the spring concert for my children’s and youth choruses. I’m looking forward to finding some new pieces to challenge them, and revisiting some pieces we’ve performed in previous years.

2018 Challenge update: It turns out I actually did reach my Goodreads goal of 200 books for 2018! I had entirely forgotten to add some of the books I created the index for. I certainly do read those books–usually more than once, by the time I finish working on them. But I don’t usually add them to Goodreads until pretty late in the year; I work on them well ahead of publication, so they often aren’t yet on Goodreads during the time I’m actually working on them. And somehow, this year, I forgot to go back and add a bunch of them in. Once I did, it took me over my goal, so yay!

Last Week on the Blog

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I’ve been really fickle in my reading this week. I did finish rereading The Adept: The Lodge of the Lynx, a 1990s-era urban fantasy by Katherine Kurtz and Deborah Turner Harris. But A Curse So Dark and Lonely (Brigid Kemmerer; ARC) is kind of on hold and I’m bouncing between Death and Daisies (Amanda Flower) and Playing for Keeps (Jill Shalvis), both ARCs.

Listening to:  Founding MothersThe Women Who Raised Our Nation by Cokie Roberts. I think I managed about an hour and a half this week, all of it after I turned in the index late in the week.

Watching:  We’ve seen a few more episodes of Eureka, and really like it.

New Additions to the Hoard

I didn’t buy, borrow, or download a single book this week, which must be a record for me.

Have a good week, and happy reading!

That’s the nice thing about Goodreads – the figures can take some time to come through, when you’ve read and reviewed ahead… Well done for hitting your reading target. And have a great week:)
