November 10, 2019 Sunday Post 9

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

Last Week

I’ve been enjoying the cooler weather. A friend came over on Thursday with her new (used) spinning wheel, and I helped her with the basics of spinning. We both really enjoyed the afternoon; we had tea and cranberry-orange bread before we started spinning. My hope is to get together every few weeks. Other than that, I’ve been working, reading, spinning, and knitting a little.

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I’ve been on a binge read of Heather Graham’s Krewe of Hunters series. Since I discovered the series several years ago, I’ve been going back and reading the books I missed. This week, those included The Unholy, The Unspoken, The Night is Watching, The Night is Alive, The Night is Forever, The Cursed, and one reread, The Hexed. In between those, I’m still reading The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Becky Chambers), which I started for #ReadForGrace. (Click titles for Goodreads links.)

Listening: I finished The Perilous Gard, one of my favorite books of all time. Now I am listening to The Last Moriarty, the first book in Charles Veley’s “Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James” series; it’s a surprisingly good pastiche. I still need to finish episode #007 of the Tea & Strumpets podcast about The Viscount Who Loved Me.

Watching: We watched Kingsman: The Golden Compass, and then finished Eureka. I’m going to miss Carter, Ally, Henry, Jo, Fargo, Zane, and the rest of Eureka’s residents! However, on Robin’s recommendation, we have started Warehouse 13, which Robin gave us for Christmas. I think I’m really going to like it.

Oh, that’s good to know! I know Robin loved it, and I trust their judgement, but it never hurts to hear more rave reviews. 😀

I am going to have to learn to spin someday, it just sounds so cool and old-fashioned (which the historian in me loves)! Sounds like a nice week and I want some of that cranberry-orange bread, yum. Have a great week 🙂

Spinning is a lot of fun! There’s definitely a learning curve, though. And if you are ever in this area, I will make you some cranberry-orange bread!

I always like the cooler weather when it comes around, although within reason haha- I don’t want it getting TOO cold too fast, like it seems to be around here! Oh well, what can you do?

Ooh The Long Way- I love that book. 🙂

That Juliet Marillier novella has such an atmospheric, kinda spooky cover- that one caught my eye!

I really need to try a Heather Graham book. I am pretty sure I would really enjoy her writing.
Your new additions look soo good.
