November 24, 2019 Sunday Post 12

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

Last Week

Mr. Bookwyrm was on travel this week, and I had the week off from indexing. As usual, I had unrealistic ideas about how much I could get done, but although I didn’t get to everything on my to-do list, I did have a productive and pleasant week. I dealt with some backlogged paperwork, did a little much-overdue housework, got my flu shot, shopped for shoes (ugh), and provided transportation for a friend to visit her husband in the hospital. (He is going to be all right, and was discharged that evening.) I baked pumpkin bread one morning, then spent the afternoon with another friend having tea, talking about books, and spinning. On Friday, I did a lot of concert preparation, from sitting while the piano tuner worked on the church piano to buying supplies for the post-concert reception.

Speaking of concert prep, this afternoon is the fall concert for my choruses — the two I direct and the one I sing in. We had a good dress rehearsal yesterday. Both the choruses I direct are smaller than usual, but I’m pleased with how well they are singing.

We’re seeing Hamilton on tour this week! I am so excited. I plan to listen to the cast album several times before we go, so I know all the lyrics. It’s going to be great.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving if you are celebrating it this week!

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I read A Dangerous Collaboration by Deanna Raybourn, and started Aunt Dimity and the Heart of Gold. And I reread two Mary Balogh books, Slightly Married and Slightly Scandalous. (Click titles for Goodreads links.)

Listening: I finished The Last Moriarty, the first book in Charles Veley’s “Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James” series (reviewed here), and promptly started on the second book, The Wilhelm Conspiracy.

Watching: Warehouse 13, except that with Mr. Bookwyrm out of town this week, I didn’t actually watch anything.

Hope your fall concert went well! It is that time of year- we have one coming up at our church soon too.

I think those Raybourn books look so fun.

Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

I hope the concert went well!! And Hamlet! So jealous, enjoy it 🙂

I have a tendency to do the same thing – make a to do list that is much too long for what I can actually accomplish. But getting through even half the list makes me feel good… sounds like you were still pretty productive.

Hope you have a great week 🙂

Thank you, Berls! The concert went well. We are in a rebuilding phase, but I am hopeful that our numbers will grow. And the children and youth choruses received so much praise for how beautifully they sang. I’m very proud of them.

It seems like I always think I can do more than actually gets done, lol.

Oh, I’ve really enjoyed the Veronica Speedwell series. I didn’t know a new one was coming. I also enjoy Mary Balogh’s historical romances. Happy reading and have a happy Thanksgiving! 🙂

I know; it’s a perennial problem for me, too.

The Veronica Speedwell series has been great so far; I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it!

Sounds like you had a super productive week even if you didn’t get everything checked off that you originally wanted to! I laughed out loud at the ugh after shoe shopping! That sums up how I feel about shoe shopping… I hates it! lol

    I hope you enjoyed Hamilton!
