Sunday Post – 12/09/2018

December 9, 2018 Sunday Post 14

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

 My Week

I’m out of town and frantically trying to finish up the current index, so I won’t be around much until midweek. But I hope you are all having a good week. And if you celebrate Hanukkah, I hope your holidays were wonderful!

Challenge Update

I’m still about 3 books behind on my Goodreads challenge. We’re now a week into COYER Winter 2018and I’ve read 4 books (2 of them novellas), written 3 reviews, and posted 2 of them so far; the third and hopefully the fourth will be posted in the next week. As for The Backlist Reader Challenge 2018, I’ve read about 20 backlist titles out of my goal of 30. I just haven’t written reviews for 16 of them yet.

Also, signups for The Backlist Reader Challenge 2019 are open! If you want to tackle those older titles on your TBR pile, this is a great way to do it.

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished Nice Dragons Finish Last by Rachel Aaron (review) and Hot Winter Nights by Jill Shalvis, plus two winter-themed novellas, Once Upon a Winter’s Eve (Tessa Dare) and Gone Before Christmas (Charles Finch.) I’m currently reading East by Edith Patou (a Backlist Reader Challenge book.) And I’m still rereading The Princess Bride — slowly, so as to savor it better. This week, I didn’t read any Ngaio Marsh mysteries for my ongoing series reread.

Listening to: Christmas music

Watching: How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the original animated version)

The Tessa Dare book was free (and may still be.) I added the Audible versions to A Man of Some Repute and Mary Poppins, since they were also on sale.

Have a good week, and happy reading!

I haven’t signed up for the 2019 Beat the Backlist Challenge, but it’s on my never-ending to-do list! I wanted to read 100 books this year for the 2018 challenge, but I’ve only been able to read 60. There’s no way I’m going to read forty books in the next three weeks, so I’m going to shoot for 75. I’m happy with it, though. It’s 60 less books on my TBR! Good luck with your challenge!

Good luck with the index! And great start to your COYER! I haven’t done COYER in a while- I should jump back in one of these times.

I should read the Princess Bride too, actually (I never have)! And Nice dragons Finish Last- I’ve heard good things about that series.

Ooh some Tolkien goodies! I love Unfinished Tales…

I love the look of the books you are reading. Jill Shalvis is one of my favorites in romance. I’m doing my usual challenges which are Audiobook, Library and New Release and they are easy because I would read those anyway. I also do COYER which is my attempt to work in more freebies and backlist stuff. My ARCs are in GREAT shape but I purchase lots of things and can’t get to them because… no deadline.

Enjoy your trip and your reading! See you around COYER! Anne – Books of My Heart
