Belated Sunday Post – December 13, 2020

December 14, 2020 Sunday Post 5

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

Last Week

Where did the week go? I feel as though I should have accomplished so much more than I did. I mean, I managed to do a good bit of laundry, and I made progress on two handmade gifts, but otherwise… the tree still isn’t decorated, the scene still isn’t up, and I’m still trying to finish up Christmas shopping and crafting. To be honest, I keep vacillating between wanting to get into the holiday spirit, and trying to ignore the sadness I feel that we won’t be with Robin, my parents, and my sister’s family.

Sunday afternoon, I attended the virtual planning session for COYER book group for 2021, which was fun.

Thinking ahead to 2021

After some deliberation, I decided to go ahead and host The Backlist Reader Challenge again, so expect to see that post this week. I’ll be participating in a few year-round reading challenges, but fewer than last year.

What I’m Reading/Watching

Harmony (Ghost Hunters) series #1 - #6, by Jayne Castle (Jayne Ann Krentz)

Reading: I went on a Jayne Castle rereading binge this week, plowing through five and half books of the Ghost Hunters/Harmony series: After Dark, After Glow, Ghost Hunter, Silver Master, Dark Light, and Obsidian Prey. (I didn’t spend all that much more time reading this week. It’s just that they are very fast reads, and go even more quickly because I am rereading.) I’m also rereading one of my favorite Elizabeth Goudge books, one which really fits the holiday season: Pilgrim’s Inn, also known as The Herb of Grace.\)

Listening to: A lot of podcasts this week: Smart Podcast, Trashy Books; 99% Invisible; and I finished up Harry Potter and the Sacred Text, season 2.

Watching: Not much, for various reasons.

Playing: Carcassonne, Dragonvale, and Merge Magic.

This year is definitely going to be bittersweet. We won’t be able to see the older kids except maybe from the other side of the door. Really in some ways I think it’s best for us because we are all just flat worn out. I feel like I could sleep for a year when we finally get home. I won’t be able to but sleeping in my own bed (and not the crappy guest room mattress that is NOT coming back from Memphis) will be amazing. I love that Allison Brook series and Verity Kent. Hope you have a great week.

  2. Anne - Books of My Heart

yes who knows where the days are going this month. I am doing better with making a list and then focusing on doing those things. Otherwise I would be scattered all over. I’d be doing things but not necessarily the important things. I hope this week you find peace and joy for the season.

It was great to see you at COYER!
