February 9, 2020 Sunday Post 10

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

Last Week

Tuesday night, we drove down to Richmond to see Cats — not the movie but the Broadway touring show. It was a very good production. I’ve seen it twice before, once on Broadway in the mid’80s (a gift from my grandpa), and once with Mr. Bookwyrm in Philadelphia in the late ’80s, when we were dating. So it was a delight to revisit the show 30+ years later with the same wonderful man by my side! We are looking forward to two more shows in our season-ticket package, Fiddler on the Roof and The Band’s Visit, both in April.

The Backlist Reader Challenge review linky is live! I had a bit of a glitch with it initially, but it’s working now and open to link your reviews if you’re participating in the challenge.

This Week on the Blog

  • A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer – review, tentative
  • Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas – review, tentative
  • News & Notes – 2/15/2020 – tentative
  • Sunday Post – 2/16/2020 – tentative

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished rereading The Serpent’s Shadow (Mercedes Lackey), which I reviewed back in 2012. I also read Chasing Cassandra (Lisa Kleypas; ARC) and Merlin and the Dragons, a picture book by Jane Yolen, and A Curse So Dark and Lonely (Brigid Kemmerer; ARC) for the COYER Buddy Readathon, all of which I really liked! Now I am reading The Last Passenger (Charles Finch; ARC.) And I’m slowly working my way through Decluttering at the Speed of Life (Dana K. White) — and starting to put some of the principles into action. (Click titles for Goodreads or my review links.)

Listening: I decided to listen to Shades of Milk and Honey by Mary Robinette Kowal. I read and reviewed it back in 2017, but I want to refresh my memory so I can read the rest of the series.

Watching: We finished up the Star Trek Shorts and watched another episode of Warehouse 13. I rewatched two Miss Marple mysteries from the 80s or early 90s. And we watched the Superbowl last Sunday…sort of. Neither of us is that into football anymore, although way back in the Joe Gibbs era, I was a diehard Redskins fan.

Your reading lots of books at once, I don’t feel so bad someone is just like me…lol. I hope you like A Curse so Dark and Lonely I really enjoyed it and want to read book two but at the same time a bit apprehensive that I won’t like it as much…lol
