My Week
I will be working throughout the weekend again, but hopefully by the middle of the week, I’ll be able to take a little time off. It has been a little cooler here (and by “cooler” I mean 80s instead of 90s), but it has also been rainy at least once a day. We’ve gotten some real downpours!
Because we’ve been avoiding the hair salon since the pandemic started, my hair had gotten really long — almost down to my waist. Unfortunately, the bottom had become dry, damaged, and prone to tangling, so I put it in a ponytail (wet) and got Mr. Bookwyrm to chop 5 or 6 inches off the bottom, then trimmed up the front so it was even. I kind of miss the length, but at least now it is healthier and doesn’t tangle as much. And it’s still several inches below my shoulders.

What I’m Reading/Watching
Reading: I continued reading Sorcerer to the Crown (Zen Cho). I finished both The Language of Bees and The God of the Hive (Laurie R. King) for my Mary Russell series reread. The next book in the series, Pirate King, is not a favorite, so I decided not to start it when I’m so stressed with this unexpectedly challenging index. Instead, I read the latest Stephanie Laurens romance, The Secrets of Lord Grayson Child. After that, I dipped into The Family You Make (Jill Shalvis; ARC) just to get a sense of it, then started reading The Duchess War (Courtney Milan) for this month’s COYER Book Club.

Kindle: Amazon had a big (but not deep) sale on romance books this week, so I completed my Virgin River collection and some of my Julia Quinn series. And doesn’t Loch Down Abbey sound fun? (Yes, the puns are deliberate! It’s Downtown Abbey meets Christiesque locked room mystery, and it was written during Britain’s lockdown.)

You’ve got some goodies there for sure, but it sucks that you had to work this weekend. Yay for it being cooler, and I can’t wait for that to happen here in NC. I keep my hair very short because I don’t want to be bothered. (lol) Hope you have an awesome week and sending lots of hugs, RO

I’m going to have to take a look at Loch DOWN Abbey. It sounds like fun. I finally got my hair cut a couple of months ago before the Delta variant got so bad and after I got vaccinated. It had been short before the quarantine and got down below my shoulders. I had forgotten how curly it would get if I didn’t blow it dry. I enjoyed that so I kept it about chin length. Now I need to get it trimmed again, but am waiting because the Delta variant is quite prevalent in most of Indiana since there’s a lower vaccination rate.

We are getting a little rain every few days but only for a short time. Still it’s better than no rain and I wish it would cool down.
I loved the Duchess War and I also enjoyed Spellmaker (audio). I hope you finish and get to take a break and enjoy some of your new reads!

I was able to go to the salon when it was closed and my hairdresser wiped everything down and wore a mask otherwise we were getting close! Hair masks and deep conditioner have become my best friends to try and keep the damage at bay! Adding Loch Down Abbey to my TBR. That looks like it was written for me! Have a wonderful week!
