October 3, 2021 Sunday Post 10

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

My Week

The new indexing project is going more smoothly than the last one. The weather was seasonable most of the week, but it’s going up into the mid-80s today and tomorrow. (No, thank you; I’m really ready for mid- to high 60s. But we won’t get daytime temperatures like that for a few weeks yet.) Other than that, there’s not much going on!

Looking Ahead

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I read A Yuletide Kiss (anthology; ARC), Lightning in the Mirror (Jayne Ann Krentz; ARC), and All the Feels (Olivia Dade; ARC), and I reread Stars of Fortune (reviewed in 2017) and Bay of Sighs by Nora Roberts. (Yes, I’m having insomnia again.) I am almost finished with Scales and Sensibility (Stephanie Burgis; ARC), which is delightful. I started Someone to Care (Mary Balogh), but as with the last time I tried reading it, I am having a hard time sticking with it; I don’t particularly like the “hero,” at least as he appears in the initial section of the book. I should trust Mary Balogh, though; she almost never lets me down.

Unfortunately, I had to return This Poison Heart to the library before I had a chance to finish it, but I have put in another hold request.  (Click title for Goodreads page.)

Next week, I hope to read Say Yes to the Marquess (Tessa Dare) for a buddy read, and The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter (Theodora Goss) for a “Movie Monster” readathon. I will also finish up the Guardians trilogy with Island of Glass, which I started yesterday.

Podcasts: Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me; Twenty Thousand Hertz; Smart Bitches, Trashy Podcast; 99% Invisible; The Allusionist; Imaginary Worlds. (I’m working my way through some of the episodes I missed from earlier this year.)

Watching: Foyle’s War Season 3

I reread that Nora Roberts trilogy when I was having insomnia last year and enjoyed it very much. Hopefully it helped you and I’m glad your index wasn’t as troublesome this time. All of your new books look wonderful! I love the Deanna Raybourn series and the Jenny Colgan looks amazing. Have a wonderful week!

I love Nora Roberts! Well, most of her books, anyway. There are some I haven’t been able to get into, for one reason or another. But I love rereading my favorites.

The weather is finally getting cooler around here, although we do have the odd day of warm weather, like we’re getting today.

Yes, we had perfect weather for a few days, and then the warmer, muggier air rolled back in. It’s supposed to stick around all week, though most of the week will be mid-70s rather than 80s. I’m really looking forward to crisp autumn days!
