April 3, 2022 Sunday Post 4

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This Week

I turned in a project, so I should have most of this week off to enjoy the spring weather! I also want to work on the house, which really needs some attention. Hopefully, I can also tackle my backlog of reviews, and maybe do some book photography. (No, I’m not overly ambitious at all!)

This afternoon, my occasional play-reading group is reading Noises Off, a slapstick comedy. (We meet via Zoom, since we are scattered throughout the country.)

If all goes well, repairs on the dam should commence in late May, and take about 2 months. Then the lake can begin to (slowly) refill. Fingers crossed! (For anyone who missed the earlier installments of this saga, you can read about it here.)

Looking Ahead

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished In the Cards (Celia Lake), and went on to read On the Bias and Seven Sisters by the same author, plus her novella anthology, Winter’s Charms, and three bonuses from subscribing to her news letter: two collections and a novelette (Tea and Meetings, a collection of 3 novellas/novelettes; Three Tales of Gabe and Rathna; and the novelette “Unexplored Territory.”) I also read “The Dragon Project,” a short story by Naomi Kritzer, which was really cute. (It’s free; click the link if you want to read it.)

Listening to: I finished Daughter of the Deep (Rick Riordan), and returned to Index, a History of The (Dennis Duncan.)

Watching: The Great Tours: England, Scotland, and Wales (The Great Courses.) Since I can’t get to Britain in person right now, I’m traveling vicariously via this series, and thinking about places I might want to visit if and when I ever go cross the pond again.

I hope the dam repairs go smoothly! That was quite the saga. And Noises Off is a great play! I was lucky enough to be part of my community theatre’s production of it several years back, and it was so much fun. I hope you enjoyed the Zoom version of it!

Wonderful that you had some time to enjoy the spring weather! Our local theater group is doing Noises Off in a month or two and we are hoping to go see it. It looks like a lot of fun. Hope you are having a wonderful week!
