September 25, 2022 Sunday Post 7

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

I am also linking to Mailbox Mondaythe gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week, and to Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality

This Week

We are headed out West to visit family and then attend our nephew’s wedding. (Not the same nephew Mr. Bookwyrm saw a few weeks ago.) We plan to fit in visits with my dad and stepmom before the wedding, and afterward visit Robin and the rest of my family members (who all live in the same town, though not the one where the wedding is taking place.)

I turned in my index on Friday, and spent Saturday packing and getting ready to go. It’s three long days of driving, so I’m bringing some projects to knit in the car. I’m making hats (and maybe scarves) for a local shelter; it’s an outreach by our Spinners & Weavers guild. I’m also bringing some personal projects to knit once we get there there—a shawlette/scarf and a pair of socks—but I find them harder to knit in the car because the yarn is thinner and harder to see when the car is moving, and the patterns I’m knitting require me to look at my knitting a bit more. I tend to feel carsick unless I’m looking out the front windshield, so it’s better for me to knit something I don’t have to look at much.

Looking Ahead

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: I read Tea and Sympathetic Magic by Tansy Rayner Roberts, and Ancient Trust by Celia Lake (a free novella for her newsletter subscribers.) The latter led me to reread Outcrossing, Goblin Fruit, and On the Bias (which I just started) which feature the same characters.

Listening to: the Circle of Magic quartet (Tamora Pierce), for the third or fourth time. I finished book two, Tris’s Book, and now I’m on book three, Daja’s Book.

Watching: I had no time to watch anything! Even the reading I did was in little snatches here and there, or last thing at night, to relax enough to go to sleep.

Safe travels and enjoy your family time! I have issues with carsickness too so I end up holding my Kindle completely in front of my face which I can’t do for very long. Good luck with your knitting and have a wonderful week!
