March 22, 2020 Sunday Post 19

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

Last Week

Our first week of staying home went all right. Mr. Bookwyrm had some technical issues with teleworking (as I’m sure a lot of people have), but most of them have been worked out. I’m working, but having a lot of trouble concentrating. I am back on my anxiety medication, and will start planning time for exercise, reading, and crafting to help keep me calm and grounded. And prayer, too.

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I read The Murder at Mandeville Hall a short (and so-so) historical mystery/romance by Stephanie Laurens. Now I’m reading her newest, which came out on Thursday: The Inevitable Fall of Christopher Cynster. (Honestly, her titles were better when she published with Avon. But both books are predictable, if not as good as her older books, and right now predictability is rather comforting.) I also started my ARC of Real Men Knit by Kwana Jackson, which is cute so far. (Click titles for Goodreads or my review.)

Listening: I’ve temporarily set aside Shades of Milk and Honey and decided to listen to the Harry Potter books. Again. But this time, I’ll be following along, more or less, in the illustrated books.

Watching: Not much of anything.

Purchased (Kindle, print, or audio)

I bought The Inevitable Fall of Christopher Cynster for old times’ sake. Red, White, & Royal Blue was actually our offspring Robin’s purchase, but since we share a Kindle library and I’d very much like to read it, I am counting it as an acquisition. (Click titles to see on Goodreads.)

I hope you and your families all stay safe and healthy… Take care of yourselves.

I am hoping you are settled down with your at home routines. I am enjoying the down time and catching up on books and movies. I hope you are staying safe as well.

Actually, it feels like my routine is pretty disrupted, mostly because I just can’t seem to stay focused. I normally work from home, so from that perspective, things aren’t that different — the main difference being that Mr. Bookwyrm is home now, too. And that I can’t do my physical therapy appointments or routine health stuff like dental appointments.

I’ve been feeling moments of real anxiety, too. I’m hoping that staying busy at home will help alleviate it.

I hope so, too. If you are safely able to, 20-30 minutes of brisk walking per day is supposed to help with both depression and anxiety. And while mindfulness (staying in the moment) is really hard, I do find it helpful to try, and also to focus on things I can do and things I’m grateful for… even little things. But if your anxiety gets to be too much, please ask for help!

Ah… sorry you are struggling with your anxiety so much. I hope that you continue to stay safe and find some comfort in your books. Take care.

I’m sorry it is so hard. I’m having anxiety and I pretty much don’t usually. It’s a weird time. Think about your strengths – you are used to working at home and setting your routine already. I actually like that part. I think I will feel better after 2 weeks and knowing we haven’t been out and don’t have it but then I’m not sure I will ever want to go out again?

Make a little more time for your supports like great books, craft projects, spiritual time and I think the COYER group is great.

Have a healthy week with good books!

It really is. I hope everyone is doing what they can to take care of theirs. I hope you had a good week, despite the social distancing.

Looks like you have some pleasant reads for distraction 🙂 I keep trying to pick up my old crafts again (my cross-stitch bag has made it to the living room, anyway). The days feel like I’m doing nothing, but things still seem to be getting done. Take care!

Have fun with your cross-stitch! I’m trying to find more time for spinning and knitting. I did finish a sock this week. 🙂

Yes, I wasn’t surprised that I needed to go back on my medication. I’m actually surprised it didn’t hit me earlier than it did, and pleased that the meds are helping as much as they are.

  6. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

Our big problem here is that since basically everyone is working from home the systems are a bit overloaded but we are getting through it. Definitely finding what helps you cope and stay calm is the best thing. Hope you have a good week and enjy your reading.

Yes, I’m finding it takes longer to load some sites, and some sites don’t load at all. But on the whole, I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how well the internet is working at our house. Given that we’re in a rural area, I was afraid all the telework and distance learning would totally overwhelm the system, but it seems to be holding up reasonably well.

    • Lark_Bookwyrm

Hang in there, Aj! Are you able to get out for walks at all? Mr. Bookwyrm and I have been enjoying ours. Other than that, we don’t go out, except for him to drop the trash and recycling at the dump. (We don’t have trash pickup where we live.)

Concentrating is hard and I’m all about being social. But I’ve found some theater events in my community that are live streaming so I’m happy..I feel connected to people at a different level now. Here’s a new connection. This is my first visit to your blog @theglobaldig.blogspot.com
