May 24, 2020 Sunday Post 10

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

Last Week

My dad is home and seems to be doing OK, thank goodness. Thank you all for your support when he was in the hospital. We are spending a quiet Memorial Day weekend catching up on work. If it weren’t for the pandemic, this weekend would have been my college reunion. But there will be others, and I am thankful that I can be in touch with some of my friends through Facebook and email.

Tomorrow, I’ll be remembering our fallen soldiers and those who died long after the wars they fought in… especially my grandfather, my uncles, and my father-in-law.

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished rereading Linnets and Valerians by Elizabeth Goudge and Mary Stewart’s The Ivy Tree. Then I went back to finish up the Hathaways series, which I was rereading a month or two ago, with Love in the Afternoon. Then I read an ARC of Who Wants to Marry a Duke by Sabrina Jeffries. (Click titles to view on Goodreads.) The Summer Deal by Jill Shalvis is still on “pause”; I’m having a hard time reading contemporary fiction right now.

Listening: I am about a third of the way through Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Watching: I continued watching the Lord Peter Wimsey & Harriet Vane series; I finished Strong Poison and Have His Carcase. On to Gaudy Night!

I hope you manage to touch base with some folks you would have met up with during your college reunion this weekend and I’m delighted that your father is on the mend. Take care and have a good week.

Thank you! I am in touch with some of my college friends on Facebook. In fact, those and my high school friends are the main reason I stay on Facebook.

  2. Anne - Books of My Heart

It’s funny how certain genres are working and some aren’t. I tend to read a variety to keep myself moving, but I am very strongly attached to some genres right now and others are harder. I’m especially finding it hard to start new books but once I get going I am fine.

Have a lovely holiday weekend, a great week. Stay well!

Oh I’m so glad to hear your dad is home! Such a huge relief! I have dreams of reading all the Mary Stewart books. I’ve only read a few but do enjoy them. I hope you have a great week and enjoy your books!

Hope you had a great Memorial Day! It was hot here and felt like summer, so that was nice. Hope yours was as well.
