The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

Last Week

Tour de Fleece is going fairly well. I’ve managed to maintain my goal of spinning an average of 15 minutes a day (sometimes more), except one day when I wasn’t feeling well. And I took advantage of Monday’s cooler temperatures following the heavy rains, and skirted the lamb fleece I was given—which means I went over the whole fleece and threw away the heavily matted bits and the bits that were much too soiled to be worth washing. What’s left are some short locks of wool and lots of very short fluff; the former will probably be spinnable once it’s washed, dried, and carded, but the latter remains to be seen. I don’t intend to wash all of it at once, but I’m going to wash a couple of handfuls of the fluff and the dirtiest of the locks and try carding them (separately.)

I forgot to mention last week that Saturday, June 6, was my 10-year blogoversary. I can’t believe I’ve been doing this for 10 years! The last year or two have been more sporadic than I’d like, but I’m not ready to give it up just yet. I’ve taken on a lot of indexing work over the next month, so I’m going to be quite busy, but I hope to manage at least a few reviews each week.

News & Notes should be back next week. I had so much to say about the reactions to the Little Mermaid and Bridgertons casting announcements that I turned it into a post of its own, and postponed the few items from this week’s N&N until next week.

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading:  I read Heather Graham’s upcoming Krewe of Hunters book, The Seekers, which I’ll be reviewing in the coming week. I finished The Harp of Kings (Juliet Marillier, ARC), which comes out in September, but I still need to write a review. And I reread Nerve by Dick Francis, which I reviewed back in 2014. I’m still reading Rebel (Beverly Jenkins, ARC.)

Listening: I finally finished Code Girls, which was very good (review to come). My next audiobook was a complete change of pace: Dodie Smith’s  The 101 Dalmations, the original book on which the Disney movie is based. It’s charming, and I have no idea why I didn’t read it years ago! Next up is… well, I haven’t been able do decide between Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking, A Natural History of Dragons, A Wind in the Door, or something else entirely.

Watching: Still watching season 4 of Eureka. We also watched Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, which I though was… kind of meh, to be honest. It had the feel of setting a lot of stuff up for the next movie, rather than having a strong arc of its own. And I wasn’t entirely happy with where Rowling took some of the characters.

I bought surprisingly few books this week. (Just the one, really, because Spin the Dawn was a preorder.) Lingo: Around Europe in Sixty Languages was a Kindle Daily Deal that happened to have an inexpensive Audible Match, so I got both. That way I can read or listen (the formats are synced.) I’ve always been interested in languages and their history.

    I couldn’t believe the nutso reaction to a poc being cast as Ariel. She’s a freaking mermaid! What difference does it make as long as she can act and sing? (Skipping over to read your post on the topic…)

    Happy 10 years here! I can’t say I’ve been blogging consistently for many years, but off and on and off again.. for approximately 7 years for me. I have been a faithful follower of yours for many, many years, even when I was on break from posting.

    I would like to read a Beverly Jenkins title sometime. Almost did last year and then I wound up buying something else. And I’m going to check out the Lingo book as I’ve been doing online lessons for French and my son for Spanish. We both took foreign language in school, it’s just my schooling was oh so long ago, lol. have a good week!

    Wow congrats on 10 years! You are really reading things I read right now. I am only at the beginning of Krewe of Hunters though. I’m glad to see someone getting crafty projects working. If it weren’t for quilting group, I wouldn’t be doing anything with moving. Well and blogging. Have a wonderful week!

    Happy blogiversary! I’m glad to hear the TdF is going well, I’ve been having fun with it too.

    I am also curious to see what you think of Lingo. The possible long wait due to your TBR won’t bother me, though. My TBR is too long for me to get to it anytime soon either, even if you were to review it tomorrow. 😉
