The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!
Last Week
Friday night, I went to a Romance Reading Salon organized by author Cathy Maxwell. Four authors came to read from their books: Charis Michaels, Sally MacKenzie, Andie J. Christopher, and my friend Alleyne Dickens. I had a great time listening to the excerpts they presented, meeting the authors, and chatting with the other readers (and knitters) who were there. The event was held at Dances with Wool, a fantastic yarn shop, so besides the books I bought from each of the four authors, I added a gorgeous skein to my yarn stash. Look for a post about the event later this week or early next week, with photos!
The author event was a welcome break from a rough week, work- and blog-wise. Over the past few weeks, my trusty 5-year-old computer, Minerva, has locking up or crashing more often, and sometimes refusing to reboot. On Monday morning, she stopped rebooting at all. My husband (who moonlights as my IT guy) did everything he could, but to no avail.
What made it really bad was that I was working on an index that was due this week. Luckily, I was able to work on Mr. Bookwyrm’s computer, and I had a backup file of my work so I didn’t lose everything I had done (just some of it.) And the editor kindly gave me some extra time. But I will be very relieved once my new computer arrives and Mr. Bookwyrm reloads my files and software.
Today is the first day of rehearsals for my children’s and youth choruses, which will be fun but will keep me busy most of the afternoon. And after that I’ll be working hard on a project that’s due Tuesday, so I won’t be around much until midweek. I wish you all a happy October!

What I’m Reading/Watching
Reading: I read By Book or By Crook, the first Lighthouse Library Mystery by Eva Gates, and then started book 6, Read and Buried (ARC) for an upcoming tour. And for comfort during all the computer-disaster stress, I reread Mercedes Lackey’s The Fairy Godmother, which I reviewed back in 2015. (Click titles for Goodreads links.)
Listening: I’m listening to A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan, and quite enjoying it.
Side note: I’m still having trouble with Gutenberg’s gallery block. I can’t get it to make the images the same size or even the same height. (The default seems to be the same width.) They look the same size in the editor, but when I post, they are all wrong. I can’t seem to find a “thumbnail” option, either. I can see I have more research to do! But it will have to wait until I have more time. So for today, please excuse the messy appearance. Maybe I should put up an “Under Construction” sign?

Ugh, I’m sorry about your computer! I hate when I have to replace my computer – I always keep it going as long as possible. Thank goodness you didn’t lose much work and had another computer available to work on!
Good luck moving on to the next project… I’m guessing a new computer is next on the to-do list? I also hate shopping for new computers :/

I think this is the year of broken computers. I know a few people that needed new ones. Mine ran out of space and I needed to get a new one. My daughter is happily enjoying my old one since she doesn’t use as much stuff as I do.
Glad the editor gave you more time so you don’t have to stress.
I missed the review tour for The Dark Lord Clementine. That was my grandmothers name but I plan to grab it when it is released. 🙂
