Sunday Post: Valentine’s Day Edition (2/14/2021)

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I’ve had a nice, relaxing week off… except for all the feelings evoked by the impeachment trial. SMH. But I got some exercise in, did some reading, some knitting, and a little spinning, and actually managed to write and post a review for the first time in over a month <gasp!> My new project arrived Friday. It’s not as many pages as originally projected, so the next few weeks, while busy, will hopefully still leave me some time for exercise and fun.

Today is Valentine’s Day, and I’ll probably spend most of it with Mr. Bookwyrm. If you have a sweetheart, I hope you are with them today… and if you don’t, treat yourself with love and kindness. Either way, I wish you a happy (and chocolaty) day!

What I’m Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished rereading Tribute (Nora Roberts; reviewed 2017.) I started Last Writes by Catherine Aird (one of my Christmas gifts from Mr. Bookwyrm.) I also started Beach Read by Emily Henry. It’s one of the COYER Book Club books for February, and it fits this week’s romance-themed COYER readathon as well. I’ll probably finish it today. And I started rereading Black Hills by Nora Roberts.

I still need to finish Wild Rain by Beverly Jenkins.

Listening to: I haven’t listened The Library at the End of the World at all this week. I’m still not sure whether I want to keep going, switch to the ebook, or DNF it.

Watching: We finished up season 3 of Discovery, and watched some of the documentary “extras” that came with our 50th-anniversary-edition of The Sound of Music (you may recall we watched that last week.) And of course, our usuals: Stephen Colbert and Trevor Noah (though not every night.) Plus, I watched a bunch of YouTube videos on fiber prep and spinning. Since I can’t work with a teacher due to Covid, it’s really nice to have so many video tutorials to learn from.

Playing: Carcassonne, Merge Magic, DragonVale, Pokemon Go, the NYT daily crossword and some of their other games.

      I was expecting the impeachment trial results, but I’m still appalled and angry. And can’t help but think, if the shoe were on the other foot and a Democratic president had done even half of what Trump did, how loudly the Republicans would be calling for impeachment, conviction, and probably criminal prosecution as well.

      We had a quiet dinner, too, from our favorite German restaurant&mdahs;our first takeout since the quarantimes started. As for Nora Roberts recommendations, it depends on what you like best: straightforward romance; romantic suspense; romance/romantic suspense with a touch of ghosts or magic; full-fledged fantasy romance (with a fair bit of peril); or full-fledged fantasy with maybe a bit of romance on the side. Let me know, and I’ll be happy to give you a few recommendations!

    I hope you had a lovely Valentine’s Day. The trial left me disgusted, although I did expect the outcome. But, I was still hoping for a better outcome.
