Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/meme now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. The meme was originally the brainchild of The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Books with Colors in the Title.

I limited my list not only to books I have read, but books I have loved. You’ll find reviews of most of these on the blog. If I haven’t reviewed them yet, I probably will in the future, because I like all of them well enough to read them again!

I split the groups into 5-star books, and 4.5- and 4-star books. Within those groupings, the books are alpha by author.

    I really want to read Green Rider – my cousin LOVES that series, and I’ve been meaning to pick up a copy to share the joy.

    I don’t think I have read The Blue Sword but for some reason I always think I have? I’m not sure if it’s just that I’ve heard about it so many times, or if I’m getting it confused with The Blue Hawk (which has nothing in common with it but the first two words, but I recall fondly from when I was a teen!)

      I had never heard of The Blue Hawk before seeing it on your post, but I will have to see if I can find a copy at the library. I do highly recommend The Blue Sword.

    Anne of Green Gables and Red, White & Royal Blue both made my list and are pretty popular today!

      Well, the first has the advantage of being nearly universal, and the second of being one of this year’s hot new books.

      I love both of those, but The Blue Sword is one I reread frequently. I haven’t finished the Green Rider series, though. I read the second, and stopped. Last fall, I reread Green Rider. Then I tried to read First Rider’s Call again, and got stuck partway through. I’m not sure why. I should just power through it and go on to book three.

    I am a fan of how many equine-inclusive covers you’ve got on your list, heh. I’ve never seen that edition of The Little White Horse – the eyes are a bit spooky but I like that you can see the detail of the unicorn better than the version I’m familiar with. I have a memory of really liking that book, yet not remembering much of what happens. I would like to try The Blue Hills, though. That much less modern cover is even more appealing.

    Also WHOA, The Country Bunny. That unlocked some distant read-aloud memories just now…and illustrated by Marjorie Flack? Too perfect.

      I hadn’t even registered that, but now that you mention it, there are several horses on those covers! I’m not a fan of that particular cover for The Little White Horse, but it was the one most readily available. I have an old paperback edition I got when we visited England when I was little with the original illustrations, and my husband gave me hardcover collector’s edition that also has the original illustrations, both of which I treasure. (Plus I have the Kindle, with the cover pictured here.)

      I adored The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes as a child. I don’t know what happened to my copy. Either it was given to a younger cousin (not by my choice!) or it’s one of the books I lost in one of our moves when I was in middle school. I tracked down a hardcover copy once I grew up. Luckily, it has been reprinted several times.
