I’ve signed up for the Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon on October 20.
The idea of spending an entire day reading sounds blissful, and I’ve wanted to do one of these 24-hour readathons for years. Some of my blogger friends have participated, and they always have such fun! I picture a day spent curled up in a chair or on the couch, a pot of tea close at hand, a blanket and a purring cat on my lap. Heaven!
Realistically, however, I do have some reservations about committing a whole 24 hours, even to something I love as much as reading. To begin with, I have an indexing deadline the following Tuesday. Depending on how things are going, I may end up having to work instead (but I hope to have it done before the weekend.) As for the 24-hour bit, I can’t function without sleep, and I have a commitment on Saturday evenings, so for me it’s likely to be more like a 10-hour readathon at best. But the organizers seem to be OK with that, so… I’m in!
I have no idea what I’ll be reading—I’ll base that on my mood at the time. But I’ll try to post updates on Twitter (@BookwyrmsHoard), Goodreads (Lark of the Bookwyrm’s Hoard) and/or Instagram (bookwyrmlark), as well as here on the blog.
Wish me luck!

An entire day spent reading does sound blissful. Although a day spent sleeping comes a close second. ;D

Well, there is that. 🙂

Good luck! I’m signed up, too. I don’t remember how many times I’ve participated. A lot. There’s no way I could read for 24 hours. I think I made it to 10 hours once.

10 hours sounds positively luxurious!

It does sound amazing. Right now though, I work almost every weekend so it’s not realistic. I keep saying I will do it, and I will someday. Enjoy! Anne – Books of My Heart

I’m not sure it’s realistic for me, either. I work from home, so I end up working a lot of weekends. But I’m trying to take weekends off… except for church Saturday evening and the choirs I direct on Sunday afternoons.

WOW, that’s a lot of time for reading! I don’t think I could realistically set aside a full 24 hours just for reading, either. It sounds wonderful, though!

(wistfully) It does, doesn’t it?
