The COYER Winter 2018-2019 Challenge is hosted by Michelle and Berls of Because Reading and Because Challenges. It runs from Dec. 1, 2018 through March 2, 2019. The rules are both easy and strict: Read digital books (ebooks or audiobooks) that cost less you less than $1.99 ($5 for audiobooks.) No borrowed books or subscription services, but review copies or gifted ebooks are OK. Books must be at least 100 pages to count.

I didn’t set a goal on my sign-up sheet, but I’m aiming for a minimum of 8 qualifying books over 3 months. Books I’ve already reviewed are listed above. Below are the titles I haven’t reviewed yet:

The Newbery Medal Challenge is an open-ended (no time limit) challenge to read all the Newbery Medal winners. In my lifetime, I’ve read 17 of them, all of them well before I started blogging. (Most I read as a child.) This year, I’d like to read and review 3 Newbery winners that I haven’t read, and re-read and review at least 2. Here are the titles I’m most drawn to right now, though I don’t have to stick to this list:
