COYER Upside Down, Chapter 2
I’m joining the COYER Upside Down Chapter 2 challenge, hosted at Because Reading Is More Fun by Michelle, Berls, Lillian, and Stephanie. It runs from May 1 through August 31, and has different rules from Chapter 1. Chapter 2 is played as a game, with each book you read advancing you a certain number of squares, as follows:
- Work your way through the board game earning ‘spaces’ on the board. We will be sharing the game board soon. You will move forward, racing towards the finish line by reading books. Depending on the categories you earn 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 spaces on the board.
- 6 spaces: free books (any format, but must be owned by you… no library, subscriptions, etc)
- 5 spaces: nearly free books. This is less than $1 print/eBook, or $3 audiobooks (still any format, but still must be owned by you… no library, subscriptions, etc)
- 4 spaces: sale books. This is less than $5 print/eBook, or $7.50 audiobooks (still any format, but still must be owned by you… no library, subscriptions, etc)
- 3 spaces: library books, ARCs, borrowed books (still any format)
- 2 spaces: subscription books — KU, Prime, Scribd, Audible+, etc (still any format)
- 1 space: any book, any format, any LEGAL means of obtaining, any price
The rest of the rules and the sign-up linky can be found on the COYER Upside Down Chapter 2 challenge announcement page.
My goal is simply to read, and take whatever points acrue to me based on what I read. I have a number of books purchased at $2.99 and below, and quite a few ARCs, but I have no ambitions of winning the board game; I just want to enjoy reading, and the camaraderie of the COYER community.

It sounds like fun. There is a big emphasis with the first 3 categories being books one owns. It’s always about the COYER Community and reading some good books.

Well, I can certainly stand to read some of the books I own! And some of them may work for The Backlist Reader Challenge or #23in2023.

The board game format for this sounds like a lot of fun! I’ve overbooked on reaching goals and challenges for the year, though. I’m not going to let myself get tempted by any new ones. 😉

Hooray – motivation to read more books I own!!! I have to figure out a way to track my points on my spreadsheet. 🙂
