The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!
My Week
Mostly, I’ve been working this week. I squeezed in a library run to pick up my holds (the new Mercedes Lackey, yay!) I’ve started exercising a little bit again; hopefully this time I can sustain it better. I’ve started knitting a pair of socks for #Socktober. And my insomnia is back. But on the whole, it’s been a pretty quiet week.

What I’m Reading/Watching
Reading: I finished Scales and Sensibility (Stephanie Burgis; ARC), which is absolutely charming. I reread Island of Glass by Nora Roberts, finishing off my Guardians trilogy reread. Then I started rereading the Three Sisters Island trilogy, finishing both Dance Upon the Air and Heaven and Earth. Currently, I’m rereading the third book in that trilogy, Face the Fire. In new-to-me books, I’m reading Say Yes to the Marquess (Tessa Dare), a buddy read with Berls from Because Reading and Lillian from YABC, and The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter (Theodora Goss), which I started for the COYER “Movie Monsters” readathon but probably won’t finish in time. Watching: We managed one or two episodes of Foyle’s War Season 3, but both of us have a lot of work right now, so we haven’t watched much.

Library Haul
Library books: Briarheart; A Master of Djinn
Purchased (Kindle, print, or audio)
Kindle: I had preordered both The Vanished Days and Scales and Sensibility, and those preorders came in this week. But I didn’t make any new purchases. (Click title for Goodreads page.)

Yay for exercising! What exercises do you do? 🙂

I have a treadmill, and sometimes I dance. I also have some PT exercises for my shoulders and back.
Anne - Books of My Heart
A low key week with good progress on things with work and exercise. Socks! I’ve knitted a lot of socks but not recently. I need to get back to knitting and quilting once I’ve got the kitchen packed up and now the planter is done.
I’ve really enjoyed everything I have read by Stephanie Burgis and I’m also working on reading more Nora Roberts.

I look forward to seeing the fruits of your knitting and quilting!
Lisa Mandina (Lisa Loves Literature)
I really need to start exercising again, but I’m so exhausted mentally by the time I get home from work, sometimes physically as well, that I just want to read and blog and be lazy. Hope you enjoy your new books!

I hear you&emdash;it’s so hard to get up the willpower to exercise when you’re tired, even if you know that one of the reasons you’re tired is that you aren’t getting enough exercise. I work from home, but I run into the same thing. (Pun not intended.)

Boo to insomnia, but yay for new Mercedes Lackey! The KEarsley book looks fun, and so does Alchemist’s Daughter. I love that style of book cover…

I really want to read The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter… but there are so many books. Maybe one of these days soon… In the meantime, I’m enjoying Scales & Sensibility! It’s really cute so far (though I haven’t gotten too far yet).

So sorry about the insomnia. I’ve had some luck with a weighted blanket and a magnesium fizzy drink called Calm (or Whole Foods has a generic that’s cheaper and I like better). I need to reread the rest of the Three Sisters trilogy. I’ve reread Dance Upon Air a number of times but none of the others. I hope you have a wonderful week!

Insomnia is the worst! I *knock on wood* have had the opposite problem lately, feeling like I could go to sleep even when I need to be awake. I’m just so tired!
I haven’t knitted in so long – basically since Dante, so 2 years or so? – but I miss it. Socks are fun to make! I’ve also gotten out of the habit of exercising. I’m really only successful at sustaining exercise when I’m going to the gym, but with COVID I have been super hesitant to go.
Have a great week!
