The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!
This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
Last Week
In real life: Even though it was just the two of us, we cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner and served it on our good china, crystal, and silverware. I overcooked the turkey a little, but it was still delicious. I do take a few shortcuts because we’re on our own: a Jenny-O turkey that’s already seasoned and goes straight from freezer to oven, a packaged stuffing mix, and a frozen pumpkin pie which I bake the day before. Everything else we cooked from scratch, including the gravy. It was delicious (and will continue being delicious for several more nights!
After dinner, we watched TV while I spun and then knit. It was a lovely day off. Friday we both plunged right back into work.
I’m getting my Covid vaccine this afternoon, so I’ll probably be pretty out of it for a day or two.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching
Reading: I finished up my Ghost Hunters/Harmony series reread with Obsidian Prey, Illusion Town, and Guild Boss. I read Valdemar (Mercedes Lackey; ARC), the third book in the Founding of Valdemar trilogy, which comes out in a few weeks. I started both Christmas at the Shelter Inn (RaeAnne Thayne) and Illusion of a Boar (Celia Lake) on Thanksgiving Day, the first one in print and the second on Kindle because I can’t read print books in the dark. I ended up finishing Illusion of a Boar yesterday, and enjoyed it very much. I’m not quite done with Christmas at the Shelter Inn yet. Last night, I started The Price of Lemon Cake, a novella in the Below Stairs/Kat Holloway mystery series.
Playing: Wordle, Connections, and the NYT Spelling Bee, and a little bit of Pokémon Go.

I need to get Legends and Lattes! Sounds like it was a nice Thanksgiving. The only thing I hate now about my brother and sister-in-law taking over from my mom is that I don’t get leftovers, lol. Hope you have a good week!

Sounds like a lovely Thanksgiving! I had a bunch of family over to my house this year, and it was a nice day for us. We also did a Jenny-O freezer-to-oven turkey, but for us it was a boneless breast only. (I have lately been cooking the turkey in pieces to make it cook faster and easier to serve.)

Thank you for the good news about Valdemar! I know what I’m buying in a few weeks! 🙂

Sounds like a good Thanksgiving and there is no reason not to take shortcuts! I use frozen Sister Schubert rolls and they’re delicious and since we’re not really pie fans the traditional dessert has become a chocolate cake made from a mix with condensed milk (and I think caramel sauce) poured over the top and then covered with Cool Whip. If my sister-in-law didn’t make it I think my husband would mutiny! I really want to read the Travis Baldree series. It sounds so fun! I hope you’re having a great week!

I’m glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. Good for you for getting vaccinated.
I had my Covid and flu boosters on the same day to get them over with at once. 🙂
