The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimberly, the Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures—I mean books!

This week I’m also participating in The Sunday Salon hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz, and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Marlene at Reading Reality.
The Past Week
In real life: I had three productive fiber guild committee meetings over Zoom, got my hair cut (from nearly waist-length to a little below my shoulders), and walked outside or on the treadmill 6 out of 7 days. (Go me!) Otherwise, it was an uneventful week — on the personal level, anyway. The tariffs and stock market tumble have us worried about what it will mean for the economy and for our retirement in particular.
5 Good Things:
- Mr. Bookwyrm and I took 3 walks outdoors, enjoying the birds and the flowers and the trees, which are greening up nicely.
- We have seen the pair of Canada geese on all of our walks past the lake, so apparently they have decided to nest here.
- We’ve seen robins, tufted titmice, a blue jay, a red-bellied woodpecker, and assorted sparrows, as well as a black vulture. Last Sunday, a hawk perched on a tree just off our deck. And we have heard a Carolina wren, mourning doves, and a yellow-throated warbler. I’m hoping to spot those at some point, along with bluebirds. (The wren is the most likely; I see them often in the summer.)
- The fiber guild is growing and becoming more active.
- I have been trying to eat more healthily, with fewer ultra-processed foods and fewer refined carbs, more fruits and vegetables. So far it has been less than two weeks, but I’m seeing results. I hope I can maintain this and not backslide too much at Easter.

What I’ve Been Reading/Watching

Reading: I finished rereading Pastiche, by Celia Lake (reviewed August 2024.) I had an anxiety attack Monday night, so after trying and failing to start several ARCs, I started rereading the Collegium Chronicles by Mercedes Lackey: Foundation, Intrigues, and currently Changes. My anxiety is now back to a more manageable level, but I’ll probably finish the series up anyway.
Listening to: Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer, and Beauty by Robin McKinley; the latter is a reread but my first time listening to the audiobook.
Watching: STNG Season 3. I also started the 2016 adaptation of Swallows and Amazons.
Playing: Wordle, Connections, Strands, Spelling Bee, and Sudoku (all from the NYT.) Wingspan.

Taking walks together is wonderful! And I love getting able to see wildlife during walks. Sounds like you had some good ones.

Anyone who isn’t worrying about the economy right now, isn’t paying attention.
And yes, it’s good to see my fiber guild becoming more active. We’re attracting more new members, too, and some of them are in their 20s, 30s, and 40s—that bodes well for the future.

The Teller of Small Fortunes is on my TBR and I’d really like to read more from Mercedes Lackey. I love walks but the outdoors doesn’t always agree with me! I seem to be allergic to large quantities of it – or I get lazy. I do always enjoy it when I make it happen. Have a great week and enjoy your reading!
