The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures – I mean books!
My Week
I was frantically busy all week, but we have a new kitchen sink and faucet (yay!) and I should be able to turn the index in on time mid-week. Tonight is the concert Robin and I are singing in – we’re doing Hummel’s Mass in D Major. (It’s the first 12 videos on the playlist, if you click the link. No, that’s not our chorus!) Yesterday’s dress rehearsal went pretty well; we’ve got a wonderful chamber ensemble (2 violins, viola, cello, bass, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, french horn, organ, and tympani) so it sounds really full even for our smallish chorus.
I’ll be busy this week finishing the index and getting ready for our first vacation trip of the summer – a week in the Boundary Waters (Minnesota) followed by a few days on Mackinac Island. Should be fun!

What I’m Reading/Watching
Still working my way slowly through Victorian Fairy Tales. I started Book Scavenger and Nora Roberts’ The Liar, which finally came in from the library! As I usually do when I’m working hard or stressed out, I reread a few old favorites this week: Mary Stewart’s The Gabriel Hounds and Touch Not the Cat. I also finished listening to The Story of Human Language, by John McWhorter. I haven’t watched a thing – I’ve been way too busy with the current index!

I just finished The Liar from my library and really enjoyed it. It seems to be getting mixed reviews.
I’ve always wanted to visit Mackinac Island, it seems so historically romantic. I expect lots of pictures when you return.
Hope you’ll have time to visit my post. http://eviloverlordthoughts.com/weekly-wrap-up-66/

Thank you, Elizabeth! I enjoyed The Liar, too, but didn’t get a chance to write up a review before I had to take it back to the library. I’m hoping to reconstruct a review from my pathetically few notes, but we’ll see. As for pictures of vacation, stay tuned! I hope to get a post up this week or maybe next week. (Early July, I mean.)
Greg
Good luck singing, and enjoy your weekend. You got the Princess Bride- cool!
Re: your Top Ten this week- wouldn’t Dragonriders of Pern be awesome as a movie/ show? Maybe a Netflix series. Yes please! The dragons of course, but the rocky terrain, the holds… I would love to see that if done right.
And of course I hope your vacation is great. Safe travels!

Thanks, Greg! We had a wonderful time; I definitely enjoyed Mackinac Island. And yes, I think the Pern books would make an awesome TV show!

Thank you, Nise’! Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply – I was working overtime for a week and then out of town for two weeks, and this is literally the first time I’ve been able to spend time replying to comments since then!
