The Backlist Reader Challenge is over for 2017!

The Backlist Reader Challenge (#BacklistReader) is a year-long challenge for all those older books that have been piling up on your TBR pile and list — not just the ones you own, but the ones you’ve been wanting to read for a while now.

The 2017 challenge ran from January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017. It ended at midnight on Dec. 31. The review linky remained open for a few more days.

So how did we do as a group?

32 people signed up for the challenge in 2017. That’s more than I was expecting, which was exciting! People continued to sign up throughout the year. The challenge is now over, and the review linky is closed.

251 reviews were posted, which is fantastic! Averaged out, that’s almost 8 backlist books from each person’s TBR list. Well done, everyone! Of course, some of us (*cough* ME *cough cough*)read a lot of books for the challenge that we didn’t get around to reviewing, so the total number of books collectively read by all the participants is actually higher. And I’m sure some of us read and reviewed more books than others… but even if you only read one older book read and off your TBR list, that’s still an accomplishment!

2017  Backlist Reader Challenge giveaway

The random winner of the Backlist Reader Challenge giveaway is Cilla of ‘Paved with Books’.

A random number generator picked review #91 as the winner—which was Cilla’s review of The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton.
