The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, by William Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg, won this year’s Oscar for Best Animated Short Film, and deservedly so. It’s a lovely, magical little film: a fable for and about those who love books and those who write them, which begins with an homage to The Wizard of Oz. Rather than review the film, I’ll let it speak (wordlessly) for itself…
In case you are wondering, the old book whose life Morris saves is Jules Verne’s From the Earth to the Moon, according to Wikipedia.
Update: Joyce has released a picture book based on the film. You can read Book Aunt’s review here. (Summary: stick to the film.)
