Sunday Post – 5/08/16

May 8, 2016 Sunday Post 22

The Sunday Post is hosted by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, recap the past week, take a look ahead, and showcase our new treasures – I mean books!

My Week

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there!

Robin finished her junior year with flying colors, and left for summer break yesterday. She’s visiting her friend and roommate Owl this week. She will get home Friday night — can’t wait to see her!

My week was quiet; I did some blogging and a lot of rather disorganized attempts to organize things: life, computer, etc. I’ve got a long way to go. On the plus side, I did get out for a few walks before the rains returned. I am trying to fit at least some exercise into my life! Mr. Bookwyrm and I went out Saturday to run some errands and see The Jungle Book. I thought it was very good; the CGI was amazing, the performances were good (Bill Murray makes a great Baloo), and the young actor who played Mowgli is both talented and cute.

Today is the last regular rehearsal before the concert, which is a week from today. I always get to this point and think, “They aren’t ready.” Then by the concert, it always comes together and I end up feeling so proud of them! But I plan to work them hard today. *winks*

Isn’t that a gorgeous image? It’s a free printable from Ash and Crafts.

What I’m Reading/Watching

I finished A Study in Sable (Mercedes Lackey, ARC), then jumped into my preorder of Only Beloved (Mary Balogh.) I’m still reading Wishing Day (Lauren Myracle, ARC.)

In audio, I finished listening to the Great World Religions: Christianity. Next up is probably the course on Islam in the same series. In TV, we finished seasons 5, 6, and 7 of Poirot and are one episode into season 8, which is halfway. Beginning with season 6, each season has longer episodes (100+ minutes instead of under 60) but fewer of them — four in season 6, but only two in seasons 7 and 8.

 For Review or Review Consideration
 Nothing this week!

Purchased for Kindle

I had preordered the new Rick Riordan and Mary Balogh books — and forgot they were coming this week until they showed up on my Kindle. *happy dance!* Will of the Empress went on sale, and I always grab Tamora Pierce books whenever they’re on sale. The rest were also on sale; I’ve read Old Bones but not in well over a decade, and the others I’ve not read before.

Print Books Purchased

I’ve wanted these revised versions of a series I love for a very long time, and I finally gave in and ordered used hardcovers before they all disappear.

From the Library

I wish you all a terrific week, and happy reading!

I lucked out; there were a bunch of Kindle books on sale this week that I wanted. 🙂 I hope you have a great week, too!

I really enjoy Heather Graham’s books I’m currently reading Haunted, I’ll have to stop by monday and see what you thought of Heart of Evil. I read Raven Boys ages ago, it was good, hope you enjoy it as well. Have a great week!

Welcome to The Bookwyrm’s Hoard! I’m looking forward to reading Deadly Fate, her next Krewe of Hunters book. My daughter loves the Raven Boys cycle, and is currently reading The Raven King.

I have loved her series (Virgin River and Thunder Point) and had mixed reactions to her standalone fiction, but this sounded like fun.

Congrats to Robin for finishing her junior year with flying colours! That will be exciting she’ll be home soon.

We also managed to go for a walk this week, the weather was so pretty we went out for a walk and got some ice cream.

I hope the rehearsal and the concert will go well! And happy mother’s day to you!

I really enjoyed your review of Crime and Poetry! Have a great week!

The rehearsal today went really well; we got a lot done. They’re not perfect (and neither am I!), but they’re getting better and better and I am pleased.

I’ll pass along your congratulations to Robin. And I’m glad you enjoyed the Crime and Poetry review—I had fun writing that one.

Thank you, Michelle! Happy Mother’s Day to you, too! I did go a little overboard on the book buying this week. (But I’m not sorry!)

Rehearsal went well; we ironed out many of the remaining trouble spots. Thank you, and Happy Mother’s Day to you, too, if you celebrate it!

Isn’t that a gorgeous cover? I really enjoyed the book, too. Thank you for the good wishes for the concert!
